Re: Your Worst Nightmare

I have a friend who's all into "dream analysis" pseudoscience. I'm not prone to nightmares, but occasionally I'll have a very vivid or recurring one. A few times after waking up, I've immediately written down details from the troublesome dream and sent it to her. Her analyses are sometimes a little spooky. Anyway, here's one I wrote down last spring after waking up in a complete panic.
================================================================
I’m several stories up in a building, some hotel lobby in Las Vegas. Looking
out the window, I’m confused because it doesn’t look at all like the city of Las
Vegas. The sky is excessively smoky, making the sun look weird. I am surprised
and thinking how strange it is that my parents suddenly showed up here unexpectedly.
I realize that I’ve been unable to sleep and I feel mentally exhausted. For some
reason I really need to check my email, it’s something very important. But when I
click on the email app, my iphone rings, and it’s a telemarketer. I hang up, and
attempt to check email again, but the iphone rings again and it’s the telemarketer.
Frustrated, I keep trying to check email, but they keep calling me. It’s as if they
know exactly what I am doing and are purposely disrupting me. Every time I try to
use my phone, they call. Every time.
I’m sort of in an argument with Mom. I'm not pleased how they showed up here without
telling me, and they're indecisive about what they want to do while they're here. And now
because of my insomnia, I can’t remember what happened to my luggage.
I sit my parents down at a restaurant, and am preoccupied with my phone, because now
every time I touch it, the telemarketer people call. Not knowing what happened to my
bags, I keep returning to the room to look for them [time and space are distorted, so
I really just have to turn around and I’m at the room]. I’m starting to get freaked
out at the prospect of not having my luggage, and am starting to panic because I
really need to check my email but the telemarketers keep calling and disrupting my phone.
My parents want me to take them to some casino I never heard of. My mom really wants to
go there, something about the basement and some nautical term [I can’t remember].
I don’t know where this place is, and I can’t look it up on my phone because the
telemarketer people keep calling every time I touch it. We walk thru the giant hotel
lobby. My mind is so tired, I’m distraught about my luggage, I’m beginning to feel like
my whole trip might be ruined, and I can’t figure out why Mom and Dad want to go to a
place I never heard of. And my phone keeps ringing and ringing and ringing…

After that I woke up in a panic, heart pounding, with a great feeling of dread & sadness, like something really bad was about to happen. It was all very vivid and it actually bothered me for a few hours. My friend had a field day with it.
