In summary, Trump promised money to many groups who supported his run for the 2020 presidency. Trump wanted the leaders of these groups jailed so he didn't have to pay them.

The story goes like this. During the 2020 election campaign Trump promised many hardcore groups like the The Proud Boys, QAnon, Women for Trump, etc... huge sums of money if they would do some "dirty work" for him during the campaign. Things like harass Biden at rallies, delay his bus, harass congressmen who didn't like Trump, try to get women to sleep with Biden or married democratic congressmen, harass democratic governors who didn't support Trump.

The Jan 6th rally was a setup by Trump to gather all those who he needed to pay off in once place and have them arrested. This way Trump wouldn't have to pay people in jail. Roger Stone was in on the deal and told the leaders the night before that if they attacked the Capitol and Congress that Trump would pardon them and after the election they would get positions in the new administration.

The truth was it was all a lie from Roger Stone to encourage them to get arrested.

This all so Trump wouldn't have to pay for "dirty tricks." It is a method use for years by NY mafia capo's. You have people jailed that you don't want to pay.
