The kits make it really easy, they have the LED lights plus water pumps and timers as well as a little enclosure of some sort. You get better results with a kit.

I use an old fashioned potter's wheel to throw my pots before putting them in my EZ-Baked Pizza Oven.

The kits allow you to grow year-round. Right now would be a good time to start some outside plants. Its best to grow them in 5 gallon buckets so they can be moved and brought inside when a bad storm is coming.
