The military thinks to much about appearances to ever allow gays to operate in the military in anything other then the current SOP.

Like I've said before, I knew a guy who was extremely effective within his unit, and he was well liked by his peers, but his sexuality was questionable. However, he never brought it up, nor made any sort of issue out of it, so no one else made an issue out of it either. Flaunting it would be a problem in my view though, and if DADT is repealed, it'll inevitably happen.

The bullets from a rifle fired by a gay man have the same effect as a rifle fired by a straight woman. If I'm bleeding out after being wounded in combat, the last thing I care about is the sexual orientation of the person trying to save my life.
I can see where the "bad for morale" argument comes from, but I'm sure that was the same argument used when it came to women or black men serving.

I'm not sure they will ever allow them to openly serve. It's a huge hassle and like Mephisto mentioned, the morale issue would be huge. They would have to provide separate shower and housing facilities for the gay folks. If men and women can't shower together, then men who are attracted to men can't be allowed to shower with straight guys.

Yeah that won't be expensive to set up....
I don't know what to make of this new policy as views from members of the military on homosexuality range from "I don't care" to "burn them on a stake before they molest a kid!"

I get that, but there's really no practical reason why a gay male can't be just as good a soldier as a straight male. The younger generations are more accepting of gays than the older generations. There will be a few years where adjustment is difficult, but the culture will change to the point where serving beside gays is no different than serving beside "minorities."
That said, I wouldn't support transgendered people serving in the military at this time. I'd like to see more information on how feasable that would be, from a medical standpoint.

Well, that's just petty ignorance, similar to "all black people steal" and "all mexicans are illegal job stealers." I'm sure if there were more examples of non-flaming gay people on the television, that would help.

I think the fact that most of the laws for gay marriage are not put to a public vote put passed through gov't legislation. This tells me this is all about politics, and creating a favorable base.
A recent study says that children raised by Lesibans were happy and well-adjusted. But no one has mentioned who sponsored that study and for what agenda.
By the way there's no such study about gays. Wonder why? Could it be the pediphile effect? You know this effect proven by the Catholic priest?
The people in general are aware of this fact as if they have went slapped in the face with this fact.
The military has enough problems currently and knowingly allowing gays in goes against their grain and that will prevail over all else.
