The Black Death created a lot of opportunity for serfs and allowed commoners to become wealthy merchants. This has the potential to do the same.

That makes no sense. Look at China'a population, 1.4 billion vs US population, 330 million. Their confirmed case rate has flat lined at about 81000 with a death count of 3200. Why would the US have a disproportionately higher death rate?
