If you live in America and you don’t retire a millionaire, you have no one to blame but yourself

A loser can retire a millionaire in this country. That’s how dynamic this economy is.

Dave isn’t wrong, but 12% growth is extremely optimistic.

A loser who goes bankrupt 11 times, dodges the draft 7 times, cheats on his wives and his taxes, defrauds his own charity, hires scores of illegal aliens. sexually assaults women, pay off porn stars and penthouse playmates illegally, can become President, betray his country, obstruct justice, get impeached and still hold sway of millions of idiots - and you have no one to blame but yourself.

Being a millionaire these days is nothing special. Most people over 55 are millionaires in this area. BFD.

It's not about being "rich" or not which on it's own is subjective. Dave's point is that it's very possible to accrue up to a million enabling one to be able to live their golden years debt and worry free. No one that posts to this site even sniffs anything close to $1.5 million. I'd be surprised if even 1/4 were millionaires. No one with that sort of money would waste their time here.

This thread is about retiring a millionaire.

Who's not going to retire a millionaire?

After 40 years of working and you don't have at least a million bucks, you're the biggest failure at life ever. You should have a million after 10 years working unless you elect democrats.

Yeah...12% is almost Madoff territory. Not quite, but that's high.

You also have to account for cost of living increases, meaning, a million bucks today ain't going to be the same as a million bucks in 20 years.

So, that 12% growth needs to be chipped a little, maybe 2 or 3% to account for that.

Example...say you've invested $100, so, in one year that $100 becomes $112.

Great...except in a year, $112 might be equivalent to something like $109 today.

So, you gotta take that into account.

Many people don't. $1.5 mill today, you could probably retire, depending on how much more you're going to, and what kind of living arrangements you're going to end towards the end. If you a long time requiring specialized care, you're probably going to need more than $1.5.

But, $1.5 million 20 years from now is worth way less than $1.5 million today.

Plus, 12% might not be realistic. 8-10% is more realistic.

He may...I didn't watch long enough.

Got kind of turned off by the guy, he seems to be a guy I wouldn't want to hang out too long with with. seemed a little angry and self righteous.

He also seems like a guy that is happy bashing other people...and quite possibly making up a load of BS about himself.

More power to him if he gets 12% over a long term.

It is an unusual return, and I tend to be a little suspicious of people claiming unusual returns. Basically, you would double your money in a little over 6 years.

Not that it can't happen, but it also wouldn't be the first time that some jagoff makes crap up to make themselves look, or sound, good on radio, and be the "man".
