This guy looked and talked like a complete seed on TV, I don't trust him for anything. I kept wondering how someone would have time for a 911 call but couldn't get his bearings to put the car into neutral. WTF is the 911 dispatch going to tell you to do, steer into a lake and fasten your seatbelt?

Yeah that was hokie as hell. Glad to see MSM get taken for a ride every so often. Keeps things honest IMO. That said, they'll be sacrificing this guy just as quick.

Like this woman! Despite her almost being killed by her demon possessed Lexus, she sold it to another person who has not has a single problem with it, and Toyota has since taken possession of it and can't replicate the problem.

I love the phoney pause and sobs after saying "I called my husband on the Blue Tooth Phone" because to my knowledge Blue Tooth doesn't make "phones".

Also this lady, and her performance are bullshit.

This whole thing Is the product of the Liberal Media's boredom due to lack of news storys.

I always enjoy how these people are doing 100 mph on busy freeways and have time to call 911 and the problem seems to resolve itself after the cops show up.

I think you have a lot of crazy attention whores who want money from Toyota who are cashing in on the incident with the cop who got killed in the Lexus. As for that incident, keep in mind it was a loaner car with a push button ignition. I have one in my car and if you are not familiar with it, shift into neutral is NOT intuitive. I do think something happened with that car (stuck accelerator, fucked up cruise control), but I don't believe the prick from San Diego and I am even starting to question the lady who testified before Congress.

If the woman that testified before Congress was so afraid of her Lexus after the incident, she had no right to sell it to someone else. She lost credibility for that.

Plus, her Lexus doesn't have an anemic engine, the way she described her ordeal made it sound like it took ten minutes to reach over 100 mph.

This guy seemed like a fruitcake. But clearly Toyota has had some problems with the electronic throttles. Google Toyota and "throttle lag". It's been a big problem for about 3-4 years. Their drive by wire accelerator pedals have not been responding appropriately since their inception. Usually, it was the opposite of a run-away throttle....but how hard could it be for the situation to be reversed?

The answer to stopping one of these runaway cars is: CTRL-ALT-DELETE!!

If her Lexus was as dangerous as she made it out to be, then she shouldn't have sold it to someone else. It makes her look bad by testifying before Congress about her unsafe car that she had no problem pawning off to someone else.

So basically if the person who bought her Lexus gets killed by an accelerator issue, is she partially culpable?

"shouldn't" and "no right" are very different things.

Actually you're wrong Gravis. If she knowingly sells the car to another person without telling them about the life threatening issue. Then if that person gets injured by that automobile she can be held liable due to negligence. If I'm not mistaken, negligence Lawsuits pay out @ 3-4 times damages. This is a monetary punishment for those who want to turn an ignorant and blind eye to problems they have prior knowledge of due to laziness or just simple lack of care or sympathy.

So no Gravy, you sir, are wrong. She does NOT have the "right" to sell her car to another unsuspecting buyer/ driver.

I don't know how that would play out in court, but I just think it is funny how she can cry in Congress over her Lexus that wouldn't brake, wouldn't turn off, wouldn't change gears when it was accelerating, yet have no problem selling it to another person that supposedly could die like she almost did.

you are assuming she didnt tell the next person about the incident.

I am assuming that, because who in thier right mind would sell a car that almost killed them supposedly? And what are the odds someone was mad aware of such a problem, but yet bought the car anyway.

Come on, you know just as well as I do that contemptuous lying old hag didn't tell anyone shit just like we know she is a bad actress and a bad liar.

LOL "Demon Possessed Lexus".

People are overplaying this BS all the way.

As a matter of fact, some kid who used to be a student of one of my family members in Middle School, just died in a vehicle wreck over on the GW Pkwy. The other kid is currently in the hospital (Last I heard he was taking a turn for the worst), and the dead driver's parents now want to sue Toyota, since their son was driving their Toyota van. They want to blame it all on the recall.

BTW, isn't it awfully convenient that there was a huge GM recall too, yet it was swept under the rug by the MSM after about 48 hours? Where are the government hearings on that? Oh, wait, I guess they don't want to investigate themselves. This is starting to sound like the Soviet fucking Union, with their government run car industry, and subsequent shitty vehicles. They killed the monster GTO (As well as ALL of Pontiac, which was one of my favorite American car companies), and watch, now they'll come out with all eco-friendly rides. Basically, if you want to buy GM, you'll have to drive golf cars all around town.

Can someone please tell me WHAT THE FUCK A PASSING GEAR IS?

Options: ReplyQuote
Re: Toyota Hoax?

Passing gear would be the gear or two below what the car cruises at. Basically you drop your car into passing gear when you step onthe car to accelerate when cruising at highway speeds. So it is not a special gear, rather a term for describing a car under heavy acceleration at highway speeds.

But what the hell does this have anything to do with this or the quote you quoted.

This whole thing is bullshit to begin with, even if people really are accelerating uncontrollably. I'm sure at least some of the claims being made are bullshit.

Put the car in neutral. Apply brakes. Pull to the curb.

OR

If it is a car with a key ignition, just turn the key one spot to shut off the engine, but not all the way to avoid locking your steering wheel. Apply brakes. Pull to the curb.

OR

If it is a Prius or other keyless ignition car. Put the car in neutral. Apply brakes. Pull to the curb. Don't shut off the car because your wheel will lock and you'll lose power brakes and steering. When you're on a straight stretch, turn off the car.

Fucking seriously. This isn't a complicated situation. Anyone who calls the police because they're out of control should have their license revoked for being an idiot.
