The current frequenters of the mall have driven all the shoppers and merchants out, leaving Amazon to handle the mercantile needs of decent citizens.
Eventually, those malls will be shut down and converted to distribution centers.
Too bad, as I enjoy a good food court as much as anyone, but there's always Uber Eats.

I stopped going to malls years ago, I reason to pay $40 for a T-shirt cuz I gotsta get my brand name gear.

While the death of malls across the nation have been attributed to Amazon; and that is certainly a factor, mostly it's black crime.
