Nissan Pavillion No More

Long Live "Jiffy Lube Live!" Or "Dipstick Pavilion" as it will be affectionately called.

Well it appears that the 15 year naming rights agreement for the pavilion we all love to hate has expired and the car people have decided not to renew - or at least renew at the asking price. And who could blame them? When Cellar Door Pavilion opened and the naming rights were sold, an average of 40 shows a year was promised. That number has been dwindling down to less than 20 shows a year recently and barely 15 shows a year more recently. They have to book country shows in October to keep the number of times they open their door in the double digits.

So, you can not hit on woman by inviting them to the "back seat" of the car at Nissan (the sex area of the lawn, 3/4s back and to the left when facing the pavilion). You will have to ask to check their oil or flush their hoses now. Maybe some "stick the dipstick in" euphemisms will start to appear.

Asking the wife or girlfriend or both to go to Jiffy Lube has so much less appeal than even the not appealing "Nissan".

Scraping the bottom of the barrel for naming rights. Oh how the mighty have fallen.

Keep in Mind that Jiffy Lube is a wholly owned subsidiary of Penzoil / Quaker State, which is wholly owned by Royal Dutch/Shell Group.

Perhaps they will open up a Giant Food inside the pavilion (Giant Food is wholly owned by Royal Ahold, another Dutch company).

I really really hate the Dutch!

Who gives a shit what the fuck they call it.

Why hate the Dutch? It's Americans who let them buy the fucking companies you mention.

It no longer sounds like a place to see a rock concert. Sounds more like the kind of place you'd go to see Larry the Cable Guy or a monster truck rally.

First "Lucas Oil Stadium," and now this shit. What's next? "Wolf Trap Presents the Pirates of Pennzoil? Not just oil. Pennzoil."

The Quaker State Theater in Falls Church is a no-brainer.

Wow. You are too quick for me today. Wish I'd thought of that.

Maybe they can change the name of the place where Lincoln was shot to "Build Ford Tough Theatre."

The old 9:30 Club on F Street used to smell like motor oil, for real. I could never figure out what that smell was or where it was coming from.

Since High schools in the area hold their graduation ceremonies at Jiffy Lube Live - I see a marketing ploy.

Walk across the stage at Jiffy Lube Live then go work at Jiffy Lube.
