PHOTOS do not show much flooding - the worst street photo I saw cars were on the street. the worst "neighborhood" photo had a boat but people were pulling the boat (the water was a little more than knee high). that's not huge flooding for an area that typically gets hurricane rains. a picture on BREITBART shows houses that some of have a main floor with water on them, some without. The seller of these houses obviously should have warned they are below grade and in a flood plane, and buyers should have either been forced to have flood insurance or be refused for home loan.

Power loss to 1,000,000? Fake news I surject: power was likely cut off to areas by the power company(s) to insure rescuers were not shocked through the water by down lines. It's what I would do if I was managing it.

before satellite land height data people honestly didn't know and homes were flooded because, and only because, of that

HOWEVER: in the age of municipalities with accurate land height data there is no longer an excuse

60 Minutes investigated several towns and or home builders and victims of homes that were built on the ground in areas that were knowably flood plains

some of them bore street names such as "river street" - a dead giveaway the town and builder knew very well they were attacking the victim buyers

as we all learned from katrina on tv, the reason for hurricane flooding isn't total rainfall, it's because a slow moving hurricane raises the sea level where the water runs off - preventing some inch(es) of run-off for (a day or two)

news is attempting to put the general public on a "guilt trip" of carolina's suffering - but the truth is inland didn't get much rain and it isn't a katrina at all - not even close

didn't get bad rain, any beach can't expect not to experience gales, and that part of NC knows well that hurricanes are a strong possibility yearly, for that area

infact it was more like that NJ storm a few years ago, where houses that were built knowing they may be sunk did sink. it was released later on the news that rich people build the homes knowing they are sacrificial - a whole home is literally what they consider expendable in NJ beach area. and it's NOT the only area that is going on

reporters are known for heightened or false profundity

i can't verify the photo is from this year or this storm - it's the "cut&paste era of news" where there are no rules for truth of photo encoding and no display of that either

i did see one pic of a boat just off shoreline - but just one.i assume there's just one because it hadn't been tie properly - because i know the news and know during a bad storm there's always a report of the boat that hadn't been tied

were in an era democrats are free to bill the taxpayer for trying to impeach a president, school boards spend BILLIONS without being watched

there isn't any way possible you could enforce news photos to be encoded as accurate and true for the (correct area of country, correct date, etc)

you can't enforce fake news to go away. you could only send all chinese photo equip back to china (they deserve it!) and sue intel and texas instruments and apple to provide strict photo encoding (that could be hacked but if it were hacked the person could be prosecuted for hacking) - something like the laws preventing copying of movies
