This is easy. In Alien, Ripley banged all the dudes on her ship on a regular basis. So she kept up with her grooming and maintained either a full shave, or in the least, kept it very trim. You can tell how confused she is after they all die and has to linger around in her skimpy panties trying to decide if she is going to bang the xenomorph.
In Aliens, she goes into the mission with the marines knowing it’s real business and she shouldn’t bang everyone like she usually does. So she does no grooming and even to the point where it’s creeping out of her grannie panties when she comes out of hypersleep. Plus, she’s 57 years older and lost some mojo. I think she was thinking “I might bang these dudes,” (especially the marine she leaves LV-426 with and who dies in the crash at the beginning of Aliens 3), but she wasn’t going into it shaved as a way to help manage her sex-addiction. It’s like sluts who purposely don’t shave their legs before a date to make sure they don’t take it to far.
She then goes back to shaving everything on the prison planet. She knew the likes it trim.
