Plot holes in the Alien franchise

1. How come the computers, space suits and all technology is better in Prometheus and Alien Covenant than in Alien, Aliens, Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection? The Alien/Aliens movies occur decades after Prometheus, but they look like they are running on Dos.

2. How come Sigourney Weaver in her skimpy underwear looks like she has a fully shaven bush in Alien, yet when she comes out of hypersleep in Aliens, it looks like a ferret is coming out of the sides of her much larger underwear? Hair doesn’t grow during hypersleep as evidenced by the marines all being cleanly shaven. Or does hair grow and the marines all had laser hair removal on their face in the future, and Ripley likes to keep a bare bush but hadn’t had time to shave yet in Aliens (and she did in Alien)?

Who fed Jonesy the cat after Ripley left for the colony on LV-426 and what do space cats eat?

To answer your second question, I think she wasn't taking care of herself and shaving bc of PTSD after the first Alien. Kind of letting herself go. At the end of Aliens, her arm pits are shaved and it may be symbolic to her moving on. Just my idea on it.

The technology is more advanced in Prometheus and the latest movie because special effects today are obviously better. You can’t justify watering down the technology because of a hole in the timeline.

If you want to reconcile this, just consider the suppliers. Ripley was working on a freighter for a large conglomerate. Obviously the equipment wasn't top of the line. So perhaps the hypersleep was not as good as the military versions. In Prometheus, this was a research mission, so top grade equipment.

Weyland Enterprises always seemed like they'd be more willing to shell out cash for these kinds of missions than Yutani.

Excellent job! The time difference in filming would be the +1 IQ points answer but this was genius +2. I feel much better about watching the franchise in chronological order now.

Care to take a stab at the pubes? I feel like you might be able to clear this all up.

This is easy. In Alien, Ripley banged all the dudes on her ship on a regular basis. So she kept up with her grooming and maintained either a full shave, or in the least, kept it very trim. You can tell how confused she is after they all die and has to linger around in her skimpy panties trying to decide if she is going to bang the xenomorph.

In Aliens, she goes into the mission with the marines knowing it’s real business and she shouldn’t bang everyone like she usually does. So she does no grooming and even to the point where it’s creeping out of her grannie panties when she comes out of hypersleep. Plus, she’s 57 years older and lost some mojo. I think she was thinking “I might bang these dudes,” (especially the marine she leaves LV-426 with and who dies in the crash at the beginning of Aliens 3), but she wasn’t going into it shaved as a way to help manage her sex-addiction. It’s like sluts who purposely don’t shave their legs before a date to make sure they don’t take it to far.

She then goes back to shaving everything on the prison planet. She knew the likes it trim.
