Thursdays without the girls.....

What will we do on Thursday evenings now Derry Girls has completed its first season with a heartbreaker? And, the heartbreaker is not an alleged dead dog, who was actually alive and well and was not run over by a tank roaming the neighborhood (theme underlying theme, "Blame the Brits for everything.")

For about a year, there will be no more excellent swearing from Michelle, who, after watching an American movie decided her new signature phrase would be shouting “Mother Fu7*r!,” no more cynicism from gossip mag fan Sister Michael, or stress-induced rants from pudgy but honest to the point you want to kill her, Clare. Erin, so far, has balanced her wacky family (Grandpa says, “she was almost 98 years old, struck down in her prime”), her clueless school (“She was almost 98, does that give anyone a clue to cause of death?,)” and her friends, “ Michelle being the leader, saying, “perhaps I wouldn’t have made the same decision sober.” Will Erin finally lose it like everyone else?

Will the school be forced to put in a male bathroom, so, any poor soul who happened to be born both a boy, and English, will not be forced to wee into a bin because he is the only male at all girls Our Lady Immaculate College? Well, take joy, Derry Girls has been such a hit that it has already been renewed for a second season, and filming is already underway. Can’t wait for Season two. They have already put in an advert for a Bill Clinton look alike, for a build up around Clinton’s actual visit to London[D]erry in 1995.

Should be great!

I started to fall in love with this programme during the opening scene of the pilot where two boys were in front of the sign "Welcome to Londonderry, " and they were spray painting over the word "London."

I seriously want to marry Michelle. While in Fionnula's upstairs flat, Michelle started drinking Fionnula's liquor. When Claire asked "where did you get that?," Michelle responded, with a vodka in hand, "from her cabinet, I think she has a problem."

A nun who is also a klepto-how do you make this stuff up?

The soundtrack is great as well, Cranberries, Dropkick Murphys etc.

By the way, the woman who plays Claire is like 31 years old. Can you believe that?

"I can't be an individual, on my own." Priceless!

I like it.

Almost every outdoor scene, there is a soldier carying a gun. A fairfaxunderground wet dream to be sure.

Don't forget the checkpoints. Most posters here would have 24 hour orgasms thinking about soldiers with guns and checkpoints in Fairfax County.

That being said, I don't like the libtard mother. When she said she did not mind the integration between the Catholics and the Protestants, I hit the roof! That is stupid libtard thinking. Catholics and Protestants living side by side and coexisting?

I have a neighbor for 10 years now. I suspect he is a protestant. We don't talk. I would not give him a glass of water if he were dieing of thirst. He is a Protestant for Gods sake! Lord help us all.

Catholics and Protestants living among each other is completely unacceptable.

If you have seen "Derry Girls" yet, leave this website now, stop doing anything else, and watch it. Trust me on this.

Round up all the Catholics and give them the choice: convert to Christianity or move to southern Ireland.

When Mom was referring to the “Protestants,” she was actually referencing the British in Northern Ireland. There is a long history of British abuse and outright land theft against the Irish in that area, and the British living in Northern Ireland over the centuries made no bones about letting the Irish know the Brits were not only superior, but in charge. Did you see the episode with the Orange Walk (parade)? Men in Orange with Union Jacks marching through streets of Scotland, Ireland, and Northern Ireland celebrating the Battle of Boyne? If that is not a finger in the eye toward the Irish, I can’t imagine what is!

For the big picture of Irish antiquity, read Bartlett’s “Ireland; A History,” or for an “easier read,” get Cahill’s “How the Irish Saved Civilization.” Let us know what you think after reading them.

Did you catch this dialogue is episode six?

Erin: “You can’t marry an Orangeman Michelle!”

Michelle: “It’s a pity, cos I think there’s something really sexy about the fact that they hate us so much.”
