I have $200/mo income, pay $600/mo for rent.
I get $30/mo EBT for food (and that's all).

Not sure how people are getting all this EBT money.

EBT provides about $3 a day for food so $30 a month sounds very low. It should be more $90 a month for food.

Your right when I was younger we had that EBT card, which its like a debit card which you can only buy food with. I asked my mom and she told me were family of 5 and got about $490 a month. so its like a 3 dollars day.

Food stamps are for people that can't get jobs for some reason. Like they are mentally ill or missing an arm. It's to keep Americans, mostly elderly, from starving to death when they are going through a rough time. Not every American is employable to the point of being self-supporting. The same with welfare. A person can only get welfare for 2 years in a lifetime. After that they are on their own.

I don't know where these ideas come from that a person on welfare is living in a million dollar mansion and driving Ferraris. That is welfare fraud and you go to jail.

The gross income to qualify for food stamps/EBT in Virginia is not exceeding $1300 gross.

I call bull.. I always see Hispanic illegals in Wal-Mart with a cart full of high end steaks and they proudly swipe that EBT card for like 300 to 400 bucks worth. Then they whip out a roll of cash to pay for the non EBT stuff.

Do not use your ebt for food. There are plenty of food banks that do not ask for income status. I visit 6 different food banks and have more food than I know what to do with. The ebt gets sold off for cigarette and beer money. Plenty of the Asian run mom and pop stores will give you smokes and beer for 75 cents on each ebt dollar.

Area employers, when challenged with "$7/hr does not pay for rent let alone medical, after costs of getting here and being here", are telling employees

"your supposed to get free food from food stamps. we don't pay for food."
