Weight Loss: Why is it so hard?
Posted by: FatinRichmond ()
Date: October 30, 2009 10:53PM

I want to know if other people struggle with weight. I have lost 60 lbs but it took me 4 years to do it. Im still at least 40 lbs overweight, depending on how you look at things. I want to get down to 200 lbs at least. But I exercise a lot and I try to cut out sugar. I eat about 2200 calories a day. People judge me just because I cant lose this extra weight. It doesnt seem fair. I probably eat healthier than the people that are judging me anyway. I gave up fast food 5 years ago and never went back. I do have the occassional sugar treat every now and then. But its very rare that I eat excessively.

I do biking almost every day . I went on a 2.5 hour bike ride yesterday. SHouldnt I be losing weight?

What could I be doing wrong?

I lift 100 lbs weight like 20 reps or something. Or 10 minutes a day, which ever comes first. I also pull ups.

You put more into your mouth than comes out of your ass.

It's basic science. Leading researchers agree, taking in more calories than you consume each day leads to being a fatass.

How far did you get in those 2.5 hours? If you made it to the end of your driveway, it doesn't matter that it took 2.5 hours.

Like I said, you've been putting more in your mouth than is coming out of your ass.

(I couldn't find a clip of Carlos Mencia saying "you put more in here than comes out here".)

The function of conservatives is not to meet every liberal program or scheme with a denunciation or a destructive counterscheme, but rather to weigh its advantages and defects, supporting the first and challenging the second. A declaration of ideological warfare against liberalism is by its nature profoundly unconservative. It meets perceived radicalism with a counterradicalism of its own.

Some people have a "weight clock" that simply doesn't want to cooperate, or you may have a physical condition that you're not even aware of. If you've been doing "everything right," and your weight loss program still isn't working, get a complete physical so you can reset your internal weight clock.

Many doctors recommend Weight Watchers. It will help you lose weight by learning to eat the right foods and cutting back on, or cutting out foods that are often more of a hinderance than a help, such as red meat and pork and processed foods. And, adding foods that work FOR you such as 7-9 servings of fruits and vegentables a day. Following the plan developed for you, you can lose up to 2 pounds per week. But, you MUST follow the plan.

When, and how often you eat is essential to weight control. Eating five small meals a day will actually help you lose weight faster than three large meals.

Bikes are great for cardio, but don't really burn that many calories. Weight and Strength Training of course is a great way to burn calories and build muscle mass - across the age spectrum.

If that option isn't available, swimming and the elliptical are next best exercise option on the list. They will burn about 500 calories during a moderate 40 minute workout (Biking at 10mph burns 200 calories per hour).

Weight and strenght training, elliptical and swimming build build muscle mass, which burns 4 calories per pound of muscle mass per month just to maintain - 450-800 calories burned doing nothing per month depending on your BMI.

I've always been pretty lucky in the "Weight Loss" regard, or not, however you look at it. I remember one time I was in a position for a week where I couldn't eat a whole lot, and I lost 25 lbs. in roughly 5 days (Which wasn't my intention by any means, and I wasn't working out or dieting). I've always needed higher than average levels of protein, and I can pretty much eat as much as two or three avg. people (It varies by day though).

No its all metabolism, how fast your body burns off fat. Your body is storing all the fat and not burning it off. What I suggest is jogging at least twice a day for an hour at a time. You hAve to be able to feel the burn. Do NOT eat sweets!! Remember losin even ten lbs can take 6 months or more.

^ Poor regular folk.

I agree, the best shape I was EVER in was when I ran religiously every other day, and I hit the gym and did weights everyday inbetween. I haven't done weights in at least two months now, but the running with my dogs daily has prevented me from losing what gains I made in my work-outs.

Good advice. Biking can burn a lot more than 200 calories, however. It depends on your weight and gender. For a 150 lb woman biking may only burn 200 calories an hour. But for a man 240 lbs it could burn twice that much.
