Meade never really hung out at the local scene when he wasn't playing or was interested in listening and supporting other musicians. That put a damper on the number of local musicians support for him. Certainly, that translated into fewer gigs. Maybe a little more 'gigging' when he was in his 2os he would have gotten more attention and certainly more experience.
Then he may have been able to have tours where people wanted for him to show up.
