Not really as we know them today, it was a serious culture a civilization that the Greeks learned from. That culture is long gone, like the Romans and the Carthaginians are extinct now. Don't think that they were your run of the mill mud and buffalo chip villagers like the Masi or the Pygmies that also existed them and stayed the same with no improvements, these guys were really smart.
