Patients seeking routine appointments at Bronx Lebanon Hospital on Friday afternoon witnessed the frightening chaos that unfolded when a gunman in a white lab coat went on a wild shooting spree.
Wilfredo Ramirez-Rodriguez 66, was taking an elevator to a heart check up. But the elevator doors opened to the gruesome scene of a blood-soaked doctor screaming in pain as he suffered from a gunshot wound.
“He come down the elevator. The security guard helped him. I’m going, ‘Oh, my God. Oh, my God.'”
Another patient — Ronald Rogers, 59 — was waiting for his orthopedic appointment on the seventh floor when the carnage unfolded.
“Next thing we know… the lights start going off. The alarms start going off,” Rogers told The Post.
“Five minutes later, security comes running up in there and they’re telling everybody to get into the room, to barricade yourself. We had babies crying and everything.”
Rogers was instructed by security to get to safety — fast.
“The staff had to run and lock the room,” he added.
“The security was the one directing the show. They made everybody barricade in the private rooms.”
