Has anyone tried Rt 29 Diner?

There is a restaurant on Highway 29 near Warrenton that was featured in an Alfred Hitchcock movie. I was wondering if that had that good 'ol Southern style cooking. I wanted to try it many times on my way to and from work. It looks very quaint- like stepping back in time to 1960s. Has anyone given it a try?

I think you mean Northside 29? The 29 Diner is in Fairfax- and yes that one is pure Southern comfort fod. Looking at their website, it doesn't look anything like typical local fare. Its more Yuppified now.

First time I ate there was 1967. They were not on a public sewer back then and they had a cesspool out back. If the wind was blowing just right the place would stink like hell. Other than that it was a great place.

Frost Diner is more of a "classic" diner and it's right in the center of Warrenton on 29.

I cant really give you an honest review because the only times I've eaten there is late night early morning and either drunk or hung over.

Sure, they left the kitchen door open for ventilation. That way all the flies from the cesspool would visit the kitchen and sample the food.

Frost diner is extra good on the weekends when Nelson is cooking. We lost Nelson for awhile when ICE took him away but now he is back and he has his green card!
