I need to buy a pickup truck. What does FFXU recommend? Would prefer full size with V8.

No, but I'll need to haul stuff and occasionally pull a trailer.

Introduced in 2007, the current-generation Tundra bulked up to take on Detroit's full-sized workhorses. Dramatically growing in size and losing much of the refinement of the previous smaller-scale model, the Tundra has so far failed to make inroads into the Detroit-dominated segment. Even worse, while all of the major players have been fully redesigned since this Tundra came out, the Toyota solders on, virtually unchanged except for a cosmetic facelift in 2014. Ironically, while the Tundra was once considered the Camry of pickups -- fully-modern and easy to live with -- it now is one of the least refined and most dated.

Easily the Tundra's best attribute is its 5.7-liter V8, which produces effortless power and a still-competitive 15 mpg. Off-road capability is impressive as is towing capacity. A neat feature is the hydraulically damped tailgate that you can raise and lower easily. The Tundra is also the most reliable full-sized truck on the market.

But shortcomings abound. While most big trucks are quiet inside and have matured into delivering a reasonably comfortable ride, the Tundra's ride remains jittery, especially with the TRD off-road package. More modern designs are also more maneuverable and easier to drive than the hulking Tundra. Competing models offer a wider variety of build configurations and options as well.

Support the good ole USA and non-union Americans! Buy a Toyota!

The Consumer reports April issue is out and it seems Toyota is having reliability problems with the Tacoma right now but the Tundra is rated highest amongst full size trucks. Dodge is horrific right now while GM and ford are fair.

I've got a Ford F250 Cabellas Edition (2013), 2 Dodge Ram 1500 Rebels (2015 & 2017), a Jeep Wrangler (2015), a Tahoe XLT (2015), and a Cadillac SUV (2017).

The 2017 Dodge Ram 1500 Rebel Edition Rocks! Hands down my favorite vehicle.
Hauls ass like sports car, best drive train of all brands, kicks ass in the mud in 4x4, great for trailering. I love the new Ram 1500 Rebel. Get it with the Ram Box - great for securing tools, guns, and beer.

Go ahead and test drive all the different truck brands. I bet you buy the Ram.

Have driven a Tundra, Silverado, and F-150. Tundra feels and drives great, while the Silverado seems the nicest and smoothest. F-150 wont even be considered now. Not a fan of Chrysler products, though the Rams do look great.

I had a rental Ram 1500 over Thanksgiving. The 8-speed transmission and 395 horsepower V8 was awesome! I was getting about 22 MPG if I didn't push the engine; if I was lead-footed I was getting less than 15 MPG.

I'm not sure about long term reliability, but that Ram was so fun to drive.

Check out the new Titan though before you commit to a Tundra.

Nissan still having quality control problems and the Nissan trucks are niggerish when it comes to looks. If you are leasing or plan to trade it before the warranty is up its probably okay.

Wondering if you really need a massive truck. If you are not a tradesman and you haul and tow infrequently you can always rent a truck. Buy a nice car and save money on gas. Trucks are pretty poor transportation for just people. They are really work equipment not fantasy penis extenders for wanna-be macho men.

Compromise you could buy a Highlander for the same price, load your shit in it and tow all you want.

Here's the thing you got to choose between Chevy,Nissan,Dodge, Ford or Toyota they all have Good cars, Good trucks, Good SUVs all that stuff. but it's about what you need in a vehicle like you need it for off-roading, Towing are you going to customize it and make it like a rock crawler type truck, or are you going to make it into one of those party trucks for tailgating at football baseball hockey games. Still these auto manufacturers make some good trucks.

+1

Chances are a Subaru Outback or Highlander would do everything he needs to do. With the exception of giving him a macho image to make up for his small penis.

If you are towing you need a pickup or full size Escalade/Suburban.

It depends what you're towing, a Toyota Highlander can tow 5,000 lbs which is more than likely enough for someone living in Northern Virginia.

You want to drive behind some midsize SUV towing a car trailer fishtailing all over the road when it wrecks right in front of you? The extra wheelbase length of a pickup or Suburban makes towing much better and safer.

Sure, it's not going to magically start fishtailing. OP probably tows a few times a year, having to drive a big gas guzzling tank that handles like an ox cart just so you can have better towing capabilities for the few times you're going to tow is stupid. The Toyota will be a better daily driver, hold its value better, better on gas, more practical, and much more reliable. But it won't let the stranger at the stop light know you have a small penis like a big Suburban or F350 will. However you can get a bumper sticker for that

I can haul / tow just about anything I want. It comes with enough creature comforts to make it comfortable and goes just about anywhere though I actually ordered mine. I didn't need 4 doors or an extended cab as I don't tote a crew around anymore. The only problem with it is that when I pull into 7/11 to get a coffee I can't keep the Mexicans from jumping in the back.

Again, why do you keep talking about penis and homosexuality? Serious question.

You obviously either live in an apartment, a shelter, or still live with mommy. So you would have no use for a pickup, plus owning a pickup means that one works for a living. You obviously don't. Most people that live in a single family home would welcome having a truck in the driveway. Again, you know absolutely nothing about these things.

False. Owning a truck doesn't mean you work for a living. Actually working means you work for a living. Pretending to work and be a tough guy is a cuck move.

Are you buying new or used?

The new f-150 with the all aluminum bed and body is not holding up well but a f-150 from a few years back is a good truck. Frequency of repair data on the Dodge trucks proves that they are of the lowest quality by far.
The best bet is probably Chevy/GMC or Tundra if buying new.

1. I live in a home here in the beloved Woodson Pyramid.

2. People that need a pickup open haul or tow daily or weekly. That big open bed that takes up half the length of the vehicle - that is what that is for.

3. Most of us work (in this area) with our brains not our hands and arms. I admire anyone that works with either or all of those.

4. Most of us home owners pay to have our homes maintained or at least pay to have materials delivered - we do not drive to Home Depot and load 20 sheets of plywood or a palate of pavers and then load/unload them in trucks.

5. Pickups are workman's tools for heavy duty work not toys. No homeowner I know would own one just to look cool and consume gas. Thats stupid. Ralph, you are stupid.

6. Drunk rednecks love to own pickups because, usually unemployed or underemployed, they can make friends and some extra cash hauling for their smarter friends.

7. One exception: around DC on an average year, you can cover the extra cost of owning a pickup if you are willing to drive a snow plow and salt. You buy the plow and Saltdog, join a contractor crew and if you can log 72 hours a year you can pay for the equipment in a few years. This year of course no one got more than about 20 hours.

8. Your 'application' - please explain. Why the mystery?

New. I'm shocked at how much more expensive the Chevys and Fords are than the Tundra's.

No mystery. My application is use on my 20 acre ranch in Ashburn. Hauling downed trees, deer I've caught, hogs caught at the bar at Clyde's, and Mexicans.

20 acres is pretty small for a 'ranch' If its true you own a small piece of property such as this, then purchase a 10 year old used Tundra. Why own a new shiny truck you are only going to use a dozen times in the year for its intended purpose? Doesnt even have to be dependable as you wont drive it more than 5 k per year. Pay 10k vs 50k and suffer 4k per year less in depreciation.

I do believe you hunt the rest not so much. And lets be honest, no one buys a 50k truck for once a month hauling - you want the cosmetic feature of looking rugged. You arent. Rugged.

There are 20 acres of open field in Ashburn? The last time I was in Ashburn it was nothing but soulless shopping centers and office buildings.

Yes, for some reason full size, four door pickups are becoming more popular as family vehicles than minivans or crossovers.

Yeah, a guy I work with just dropped 48,000 on a 2017 Chevy 4x4 4 door. The Tundra SR regular cab 4x4 with limited options runs mid to low 30s. The rust problems are only on the Tacoma's but Toyota made good on those, replacing frames for free on them as old as 10 years. Those Mexican frames have cost Toyota 10s of millions. I drove fords and one chevy for many years but I am sold on Toyota now and have 2 of them and one old Ford that is barely hanging on.

Picking up 20 bags of cooler ranch to head back to your rambler sitting on .20 acres is more like it.

OP must be old and thinks that Ashburn is undeveloped and he can lie about owning 20 acres to 'haul downed trees' - show me 20 acres of ranch here https://www.google.com/maps/place/Ashburn,+VA/@39.0391236,-77.5059769,9457m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x89b615f166fcc957:0x9da316eb11e3d5b!8m2!3d39.0437567!4d-77.4874416
