Names You Don't Hear Anymore
Date: September 25, 2009 10:37PM

When I was a kid in the 70s, it wasn't uncommon to hear names like "Lou," "Troy," "Al," "Peter," "Burt," and "Skip." You don't hear those names anymore, unless they belong to some guy in his 60s.

This is what happened to them:

-----------------------------------------------------------------
The function of conservatives is not to meet every liberal program or scheme with a denunciation or a destructive counterscheme, but rather to weigh its advantages and defects, supporting the first and challenging the second. A declaration of ideological warfare against liberalism is by its nature profoundly unconservative. It meets perceived radicalism with a counterradicalism of its own.

What I dont understand is the popularity of naming girls with obviously male names such as Ashley, Leslie, Bobby, Jodi, Morgan, Madison, etc.

Ashley was a boys name and it sounds like one IMO. Every time I hear a girl with this name I cringe. Gosh- if they're gonna do it why so many??

Lee is a boys name.

Randy is in no way shape or form feminine ! We've been condition to think Ashley is feminine because so many girls in the past 25 years have been named that. However, before that, it was almost exclusively a boys name.

Sound it out: ASH AND LEE. Both very masculine names if you ask me.

Jody is not feminine at all. Name a girl Ashley or Jodi- theres a gym teacher waiting to happen.

now type in ashley, what do you see? not one dude named ashley until the 11th page and he looks like a hairdresser. FEMININE

Jody is totally a masculine dudes name. Randy? Thats like a race car driver's name. Its the name of many Southern men. Its a rugged name. Nothing sounds feminine about that name.

if that myspace link was your evidence for manly men named ashley, thanks for proving my point. that dude was a complete queer. im sure if you heard him speak it would sound effeminate.

so women cant drive in NASCAR now?

what if its spelled randi with an i? still masculine?

i take it the jody experiment tipped in my favor?

Hes not gay at all. He dated a super model and they have a child together.
No offense, but you sound a touch homophoic

Randy with an I Bobby with an I. They are still boys names.
Ashley is a boys name. It sounds so repulsive on a girl, but the way its going I guess they take it over like they've taken over a lot of other things (equestrian sports too)

I have a cousin named Ashley. He played football and if you called him gay, he would knock your lights out.

homophobic? no. disgusted by their antics? yes. im sorry if i hit a soft spot with the feminine names. to me, it sounds like you have a touch of gynophobia.
ever heard of a unisex name? both boys and girls have those names. all im saying is that it is more common amongst females, with the exception of lee (as a first name).

Brfxxccxxmnpcccclllmmnprxvclmnckssqlbb11116 (Pronounced "albin"). In 1991, Elisabeth Hallin and Lasse Diding wanted to protest the naming law of Sweden, which states that the court can diapprove of names that "for some obvious reason are not suitable as a first name." They were fined 5,000 kronor (about $680 at the time).

The parents claimed that the 43-character name as "a pregnant, expressionistic development that we see as an artistic creation." The court didn't buy it and upheld the fine. Then the parents tried to resubmit the name as "A" (yes, one letter - also pronounced "albin"). The court didn't buy that either, saying that one letter names are prohibited.

The baby finally went with "Albin Hallin" though in his passport his name was given as "Icke namngivet gossebarn" meaning "unnamed little boy."

Such beautiful names but the young people today do not choose them.

They prefer the modern names.

Those are such beautiful names. Female names, I would guess.

Hello, eesh. I am Raahi, a man. I am not sure, by your name, eesh, whether you are female or male.

If you are a female, would you mind telling me a little bit about yourself? I am looking for a mate.

Are you a gentle, quiet female? Are you respectful?

No, I'm not female, but if you pay off my credit cards, I'll put out.

Oh.... you are one of those AC-DC men. Am I correct?

You sound very nice, but I think I will mate with a female.

Joshua is a very common name. I had thought so too at one time when I named my youngest son Joshua. But it has been in the top 10 for a long time. I don't know about now. But it was in the 90's and early 2000's.

Another uncommon name you don't hear is:

Marie, Esther, Bertha, Agetha, Donna, Janet, Teresa, Marjorie, George, Ruth, Mary,

It was a joke that meant something to Alias, but once again, you go out of your way to correct me. Like you knew before you read this thread that Olivia was #3 in 2010, you had to deliberately look that up. What an obsessive douchebag.

Two of the girls in my son's class are both named Olivia - obviating the fact that the name is very common. So, please, gently fuck yourself with a piece of plate glass.

"Fucking with a piece of plate glass" is how your wife described having sex with you. While you worry about what the girls' names are in your child's school, I'll be taking care of your wife. I like the fat ones anyway.

Again, you are making some wild assumptions.

How about we go through the list.

#1 I apparently do not live in Fairfax County
#2 My wife is fat

What next will you dream of?

John, and it's too bad, to me it was always a strong masculine name associated with a lot of good and brave heros in history. Not Jonathan, which is kinda fruity but "John".

It's a matter of location. I used to live on a tough Boston block as a kid, I used to hear names like Manny, Arlindo, Maria, Rico, Nando, I don't hear those names too much where I am now.

Did she have tits and a dick, instead of a clitoris?

The eesh shemale litmus test is a must; do not make this an unhandled exception!
