Welcome to Fairfax Underground, a project site designed to improve communication among residents of Fairfax County, VA. Feel free to post anything Northern Virginia residents would find interesting.
To craft a bipartisan compromise on health care Sen Max Baucu made major concessions to Republicans:
He dropped the "public option"
He dropped the mandate that employers provide health coverage
He made sure the the bill was funded by revenue from within the health care system
No funds for abortions or illegals
Curtailed medical malpractice awards
And what does Baucus have to show for his concessions? Nothing..not one Republican.
Back to me....these Senators are afraid what Rush and Beck might do to them if they agreed to a compromise. This is truly a battle...people win or loose battles...the time for compromise is over.

Yep, I want to see the Democrats stand up and shove their plan down our throats. Come on - bring it.
As Grassley said the other day, there are a number of amendments that now need to be reviewed and processed. Is there some rush that we weren't aware of 10 years ago (or longer) that is suddenly a crisis today? Not really.

Those Senators are listening to their constituents. This bill is DOA just like Hillarycare. Baucus can flap his gums all he wants and you can cry in your kool-aid.:)

The point is there isnt a health bill that can be crafted by man that Republicans can support..they say they want to start over..that is a lie...they want to kill all health care bills.

Republicans Senator listen to only thing, the amount of money lobbyist will put in their pocket from a million dollar organization.
So do Democrats, they just sing to a different tune from a different pot of money. When you understand that, you will understand why there is not a health care bill at the moment.

Agreed. Why are Democrats so eager to gain Republican approval if the Democrats' bill (whether Baucus's or anyone else's - not sure there is an Administration bill), why don't they just pass it already? Why are they concerned with Grassley (tool of Big Food) anyway? Seems like they are afraid to take sole ownership of it.

Will people ever trust republicans ever again? Will they let them even babysit their kids? I know they are qualified, but I don't know if I want them near my children.
