Border Security Solution

Can't we just put landmines along the Mexican border and skip having Mexicans build us a multi-billion dollar wall?

A wall is stupid, archaic, and expensive.

Landmines are cheap and effective.

Just run high voltage lines along the border. It doesn't have to be a wall. Of course, there will have to be surge arrestors and fuse cutouts along the way. Also, have videos projected onto the Mexican side showing others that were electrocuted trying to cross into the US!

They'll tunnel under landmines and high voltage lines. We need a layered barrier approach that deters most tunneling as well as above land travel and things like drones. This isn't just about illegals but about stopping the flow of drugs as well. That's why this is going to cost $50 billion. Money well spent IMO.

There is no need for high voltage. All that's needed are a double fence with a 500m no man's land kill zone, sensors to detect motion and tunneling, tethered aerostats, and drones equipped with antipersonnel ordnance, non-lethal if politically necessary.

The size and cost of sensors has come down a lot, along with their power requirements. The power requirements are not nearly as high as originally anticipated, and solar power could be used extensively.

Fuck all that. Trump pissed off the Mexican President and he won't come here now. Just piss the rest of them off and they'll go back where they came from. We'll let the ones here legally pick our strawberries and lettuce.

fuck the wall... Live fire training for the national guard and reservists.

Since the border area is generally a sandbox similar to where our troops are currently stationed. Consider this great training.

some air support from A-10 and Apache's, bring in the Bradleys and Abrams

if something is moving from south to north across the border. light-em up...
