It's called "markup". They buy discounted large quantities and re-sell it for 2 to 3 times what they paid. I'm guessing your salary number is way off. Figure it takes about 12 hours a day to run the place. That's 360 hours a month. Maybe about 12 bucks an hour, that equates to more than 4,300 in labor. 2-3K in rent, another 2-3K in overhead expenses, rounds to about 10K a month in operating costs. That's about $333 a day in sales. That's not a hard number to make. I've bought vitamins at one of those places, probably spent at least 50 bucks every time I went there. And those stores usually have a dedicated customer base who spend a lot more than that regularly.
