I'm not even hispanic, but I check the box saying I am whenever I apply to school related things. Trying to get into grad school, hopefully this helps get my foot in the door.

A lot of colleges are going in this direction. They can't get enough diversity with current requirements so they chuck the requirements.

Of course, if students are no longer judged on test scores and grades then admissions become more subjective and that can only lead to good things, right?

admissions tests particularly aren't proper barometers of intelligence. Things like SOLs SATs ACTs and GRE aren't testing student's reading, writing or learning capibilities they are just measuring sticks showing how well a student can take a test. Having said that, admitting someone based solely on skin color over merit is ridiculous.
