At least two statues that honor Civil War icons were defaced on Monument Avenue Thursday morning as protest against newly elected president Donald Trump broke out around Richmond.
Police are looking for the person or people who spray-painted the Jefferson Davis and Matthew Fontaine Maury statues with the words "Your vote was a hate crime."

The Republican Party of Virginia confirmed their headquarters at 115 East Grace Street was vandalized during the protest. The damage was to the building's windows, graffiti on the doors, and the doorbell was broken.
A statement by GOP Chairman John Whitbeck read in part, "The violent protests that led to the vandalizing our headquarters is unacceptable but not unexpected...We will move forward - not intimidated but vigilant - and pray that this Nation will come together just as Secretary Clinton, President Obama and President-Elect Donald Trump have stated."

GOP controls the House, Senate, White House and 32 State Governors - why would they riot? GOP has total control of the country. Funny thing was when they didnt control the white house they just made the President a lame duck for most of his terms.

some don't follow the money. everytime a statue gets defaced a "city team" gets auto rights to spend money on cleanup. in fairfax, it's been found OFTEN not a few times, that companies will hire thugs to deface or break windows to "pad sales for local businesses"
