College Football Rankings
Date: September 07, 2009 09:52AM

Unlike last year, I think the pre-season college football rankings were pretty dead on for the first week. The only exception would be Ohio State. Given how they almost coffed up their home opener to Navy - a service academy - there's no fucking way that team ever should have been ranked 6th in the nation. Also, before everyone declares that Notre Dame is back, keep in mind they beat the crap out of a mediocre WAC team that had never played in South Bend before. Let's see how Charlie Weis does against a ranked team. His record in that area has been pretty dismal.

Oh, and the Sooners lost. But that ranking was based on having their starting QB.

I have been a Notre Dame fan since the Ara Parseghian days. I will always stick with them. I just dont like Charlie Weis, I don't know why but I don't feel he is good for them.

GO IRISH

After what I saw from section 305 in Atlanta's Georgia Dome, my Hokies shouldn't have been ranked 7th. No real offensive production.

Alabama's offense was way bigger than us and wore us down. That's why the 4th quarter was so dismal. Tyrod Taylor couldn't run and when he had to opportunity, you could tell he made a conscious effort not to. Of course I was completely hammered, so who knows what I was really watching.

BTW, that Ohio State game was fantastic.

I would love to see that happen twice on Weis's watch, but I doubt I will be that lucky. However, Navy looks pretty damn good. The option offense works a hell of a lot better when you have a QB who can actually throw the ball.

As for ND, while Jimmy Clausen made some nice looking throws, he also made some pretty horrific ones. Given the right opponent, it could be ugly.

Michigan's new 2 QB offense will give the Irish fits this saturday. Unfort, Michigan's secondary will get shredded by Clausen. I can see a 35-31 win for the Irish.
Oh, and Vince? Fuck off.

I still think the verdict is out on Clausen. Nevada didn't seriously challenge him. The Wolfpack's corners and safeties were too small and too slow, especially against a TE that was really playing as a slot receiver all game. And remember, Clausen's big problem in the past has been escaping the pass rush, which was virtually non-existent with Nevada.

Even with its problems, I think Michigan's defense will be better positioned to frustrate Clausen.
