Because I ran across the memorial wall there, asshat. Show me a place where I can track va boat registration numbers. I don't think that's public info the way federally-registered boats are.

Boats can be state registered OR federally documented. This particular boat is state registered. As far as I know, the VA boat registration records are not public. The federal records, for federally-documented boats, are public and searchable. I was making a point that I wished the VA records were searchable, in which case I would have never bothered to post in this useless forum, I would have called the owner directly.

A better question is who wants to haul it out of the back woods area?

Probably belongs to someone who lives just upstream. Reported to DGIF, who passed it on to the conservation police. Either it'll find its rightful owner, or someone will be fined for littering. :)

Are you really a rock star or a pretend one? Do you identify with Meade in trying to hit the big time by playing on the street for chump change? Why do you even call yourself "Rockstar"?

Salvage that boat and use it for fishing. If it's just found floating freely one can get a salvage title for it and own it. Perfect little boat for the parks in FFC.

Boats are registered by the state. Hence the "VA" in the beginning of the pictured registration number.

Just for those 1 or 2 who may be actually interested in this factoid, boats larger than 26' can be federally documented in lieu of state registration. This avoids some taxes paid upon registration. Federally documented boats are also exempt from displaying state markings with shitty home depot lettering, although they have their own marking requirements which (name and hailing port with a minimum size requirement for visibility, and the federal documentation # in a normally hidden location).

Also some asshat states are starting to "require" state markings and refusing to honor USCG federal documentation, which means despite your boat being federally registered and exempt from your home state registration and thus not requiring markings, you are expected to register your boat in, for example, Florida, when travelling through Florida waters.

I wonder if somebody has parked it there and uses from time to time. Adventure Land is right around the corner at Hemlock Overlook. They have about 20 boats they keep right at the edge of Bull Run(river) in the Valley.

What happens if you are registered federally and refuse to register with Florida? Does it make a difference if the hailing port is a different state or country?

I typed the registration number into google and the boat has something to do with Cryptographic Algorithm Implementation Requirements for ESP.

According to the article http://www.oceannavigator.com/May-June-2013/A-fog-of-regulation/ :

"The hailing port can be any officially recognized place name within the USA, and must be accompanied by the name of the state or its abbreviation. You can choose anyplace you want, regardless of your address or where you keep the boat most of the time."

“A vessel, federally documented or not, that is not covered by a registration from another state or by the USCG in a state without a federally approved numbering system, is not provided that 90-day reciprocity time and would need to register with DHSMV.”

This is really messed up....

Yes and you'll get pulled over by every police or fishing game warden that sees your boat.

The last thing I want is every officer on the water pulling me over to do registration checks and then a safety check. Especially after a day partying with people on my boat.

I got pulled over once because I was missing a letter on the front. It washed off. The guy thought I lifted some state work boat number.

Pretty sure. Considering there isn't an MD or DC in front of that number.

Would it have been easier for you to understand if I said that my boat has a VA designation at the beginning of the registration number and it is registered in VA?

You know.......I've been thinking about asking for a refund.

As my own personal troll..........you really do suck.

However as a kind and forgiving person and considering you have zero life other than stalking me and making stupid comments, I will allow you to stay on as it were.

Have a nice day and go fuck yourself, troll. :)
