Why should he? Most of those who won't vote for him because he won't release his returns wouldn't vote for him anyways. Most of those who support him now don't care whether he releases his returns. So where is the upside to releasing them. The downside though is his returns could contain information that would cause his supporters to change their minds. Releasing them also would give his opponents the chance to pick them apart. So plenty of downside.

Sorry for whispering here, but I don't want to disturb the other trolls with our little side conversation.
I really appreciate your input, and you are absolutely correct in observing that there is no potential electoral upside, but lots of potential electoral downside, for Trump in releasing his tax returns.
Trump's reluctance to release his returns virtually guarantees that they contain information that he and his campaign perceive as potentially damaging to his candidacy.
The Clinton campaign, and Democrats generally, fully understand that the foregoing risks will ensure that Trump's tax returns will not ever see the light of day.
That being said, Bill, with politics being 95% theater, Democrats continuing to call, loudly and repeatedly, for Trump to release his tax return constantly reminds voters that Trump: A) Is not as honest, forthcoming, and trust-worthy as he claims; and, B) has something, maybe more than one thing, that he needs to keep hidden from them.
So, to recap, there is no real expectation amongst Democrats that Trump will release his at returns, but continuing to call for their release makes Trump look shifty, shady, and not someone you'd trust holding the reins of power.
