Wouldn't Miami, or South Beach, or somepleace else be higher on the list than Arlington?
Manhattan?
Chicago?
San Francisco or Silicon Valley?
Seattle?
Sounds to me like the metrics they used were falsely assumed to be related. A high median income and a high proportion of 21-35 year olds doesn't mean the two are related.
Okay, I looked, "Single: 41.6%" and "Median Family Income: $108,815" -- Because you know that the other 48.4% couldn't be the ones keeping the median income so high.
That's a lazy methodology for ranking. Most of the single people in Arlington are making well under $100,000. Probably most single people in Arlington (and all the other places in this "ranking" article) are making under $50,000, but live in a community with a higher than average cost of living.
I'm going to do a ranking article on the best places to buy a house and use two metrics -- number of homes for sale and average square footage of homes. The number one spot would probably go to Las Vegas.
