I am deeply concerned about the general population turning into zombies in the near future, and I am in preparations to outlive the havoc caused by this disaster.
What is the best way to make your house a fortress that will withstand a hoard of zombies?

Well, presuming that you believe in zombies (as evinced by your post here), then I would either hire a cleric, or develop a direct line of communication to the God of your choice, and ask them to grant you divine powers to "turn undead". I am sure they will authorize that for you - and then you will just destroy them when they show up.
Now, if you are talking about zombies created from the spread of toxic chemicals, a large supply of flammable liquids and a hose, or a 50 cal machine gun with lots and lots of ammunition should do the trick.

WHEN (not if) the zombies rise, do you think they will be the classic, "slow and stupid" type, zombie or the more progressive, "fast, mean and intelligent" type, zombie?
It wouldn't hurt to be prepared for the worst, but I think humanity's outlook is bleak if it is the latter.
(I am intentionally overlooking the third category of the "metaphorical zombie" for the sake of the thread)
