This is awesome news, but the celebration shouldn't begin until they are in the air, on their way home. How great that a resolution was brokered, though! Good job, Bill and Hill!

Bill is one smooth m'fer.

He likely promised Kim Jong Il a box set of Dexter given his affinity for American TV and movies.

WHAT IN THE FUCK WERE THESE WOMEN DOING THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE?
THEY'RE ON AL GORE'S PAYROLL. THEY WERE IN AN AREA WHERE EVEN GI'S
ARE TRAINED NOT GO!

This episode is going to cost the US taxpayer millions if not BILLIONS
in funding and/or additional aid to this miserable excuse for a leader.
WillyBoy was suckered and we pay for it.

These women should be sent a bill for the cost of the rescue operation
just like idiots who get trapped while mountain climbing or become lost
while hiking and need a small army of rescuers to bail them out when they
werent using their brains in the first place.

Bill gave him Monica's phone number. She was promised a paid internship at a north korean cosmetics company. Everyone's happy.

They even shared a cigar. Shared A cigar.

Ok, I'm already officially disgusted with this story.

I was watching the news today as the plane was pulling into the runway.

Reporter 1: "Here they are flying into Burbank (?) airport, used by the rich and famous of Hollywood."

Reporter 2: "Now, are we going to be able to see them getting off the plane, in front of all the cameras? Wow, truly a remarkable story."

Reporter 1: "Of course, this has been hardest on Euna's 4-month-old daughter, who has missed her mother terribly throughout this entire ordeal. It should be a very heartwarming and tearful reunion."

Reporter 2: "Yes, how exciting it will be to see this personal and touching reunion in front of all the cameras."

Why can't we all just be happy she made it back to the USA, and let her talk about it when she's ready? They both just did 140 days in a North Korean labor camp, and THE SECOND they get off the plane, there's going to be camera's in Euna's face to capture all of the voyeuristic joy of seeing someone display emotions that most others will never experience. Then, a press conference for them to tell us how awful it was in a North Korean labor camp.

It's easy to blame the media for these pornographic displays, and I did. Now, though, I blame the American public. We WANT to see this shit in a way that's transcending from "in-depth coverage" into "creepy stalker." The media would not be reporting like this if it wasn't for our desire to see every sweet, sweet tear in high-definition.

Welcome back, Laura and Euna.

You didn't miss much.

Remember back in the day when people were concerned about who and what we were labelling as "terrorists?"

It sets a bad precedent to start calling heads of sovereign regimes "terrorists." Next thing you know, we'll be going to war with them.

Wait a minute...

Uh yeah, right.

Kim Jong Ill is just a normal, fun loving guy who threatens his closest neighbors (that are friendly to the US) and the US with bombings, war, etc. He uses terror "tactics" to extort US and world aid on a regular basis.

Hey, good for Bill, he got them out. And if that is all it took - just having Clinton meet with that idiot, then great, I commend him for doing such a simple act to bring them home.

But yeah, NK is pretty "close" to being a terrorist regime.

I think Bolton's trying to say that we should've just talked shit for the next few years while these women rotted away in prison.

I wonder if Bolton would feel the same way if Clinton went over there to rescue his daughter.

Partisan politics aside, this whole "calling people terrorists" thing hasn't worked out so well for the past 8+ years, so it may be time to change tactics.

We fly Predator drones into sovereign nations to kill whoever we want under the premise of "freedom." We kill (accidentally or otherwise) civilians, fighters, political targets, leaders, we don't give a FUCK. And our stance is, "we will keep killing you until you do what we want."

Given that terrorism is "trying to change a peoples' way of life through fear," I think we might as well be branded terrorists, too.

Those two women should have never been there in the first place. I guess
they thought they were immune because they work for Al Gore. Stupid.
Their release was already negotiated BEFORE Willy left. The NK's requested
that he come and get them. Now lets see how much this photo-op costs in
the form of more $$$$ for Kim Il Jong.

Everything is relative - folks in the Middle East have been saying the US were terrorists, especially when all we did was fly cruise missiles in to blow up targets. Although ours is usually packaged in "hunting the bad guys", not trying to get all of Islam to change their ways.

How about "extortionist" - so we would call them "Extortionist Regimes" instead?

Sure! But I still stand by the fact that we do the same thing we hate other countries doing; we just have the technology, influence, and resources to justify it somehow.

I think we should stop with all the "scary" labeling and just call them a dictatorship. One of the dumber things Bush did was call N Korea a part of the "axis of evil". If anything gives them a sense of legitimacy and recognition, it's retarded comments like that. Just start calling clowns like this what they really are in political terms: dictators.

But anything is better than throwing out the tiresome, retarded, "terrorist" label.

Yes, that and the appeasement policies that got us here in the by allowing them to extort the US in the first place.

http://www.frontpagemag.com/readArticle.aspx?ARTID=20448

Quote

...
If Iraq's nuclear policy in the 1990s constituted a "decade of defiance," Bill Clinton's negotiations with North Korea represented a "decade of delusion." Evidence that North Korea was violating the nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty surfaced within weeks of Clinton's first inauguration. After a year of inaction allowed Pyongyang to create at least one nuclear weapon, the emboldened Stalinists announced their formal withdrawal from the treaty. It seemed North Korean officials were angling for a payoff. They must have realized they struck the jackpot when Clinton named tough-as-nails Jimmy Carter as his principal negotiator.

Under the final terms of the Agreed Framework approved in October of 1994, Clinton agreed to provide the "Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea" (DPRK) with two light water nuclear reactors and a massive allotment of oil. The U.S. agreed to ship 500,000 metric tons of oil annually in response to the North's pretense that the energy-starved backwater had developed the nuclear facility to generate power. These shipments have cost taxpayers more than $800 million to date - a bargain compared with the $6 billion spent on constructing the nuclear reactors, which now empower North Korea to produce 100 nuclear bombs each year.

All these measures failed to quell the North's atom-lust.

In August 1998, North Korea lobbed a Taepo Dong 1 missile over Japan. Four months later, officials refused U.S. inspectors access to a suspected underground nuclear reactor at Kumchang-ni. President Clinton then sweetened the deal by rewarding Kim Jong Il's half-year-long stall tactics with 1.1 million tons of food worth nearly $200 million. Not surprisingly, American inspectors found no signs of wrongdoing at the long-sanitized facility.
...

I mean "Yay team" and all that. But it isn't like they weren't already acting like retards in NK long before Bush got into office.

What.. Vince.. oh did you say something?

What other action did they take Vince? Anything? "Sanctions" are laughable and have not worked on any country in decades. Hmm, no military strikes... What else DID they do Vince, or have they done with NK that has produced anything other than the nuclear weapons they have today (that were developed while Clinton ran things). The same technology they then proliferated to Pakistan and others.

Please, enlighten us on whatever small thought is running through your brain today that adds anything to what they have done. I mean we gave them oil, food, help with nuclear reactors, I am sure there was more. What did "statesmanship", as you want to call it, get them?

Anything?

Just remember, when your gay lover wants to post those pictures you let him take on the internet unless you pay him off - remember, pay him off since that is probably the most statesman-like thing to do.

What, 8 yrs with Clinton wasn't enough? 8 yrs of Bush, of which his biggest crime was calling them names? I don't remember him threatening to attack them.

Invade? No. No more aid though, let China deal with them - and if they end up lashing out at South Korea or others nearby do what is necessary or get China to step up and take ownership of their puppet. The only reason they are still there is because of the Chinese.

But the time for paying them off should be done.
