Washington (AP) Taliban leader Mullah Akhtar Mohammad Mansour was likely killed in an airstrike in Pakistan on Saturday, two U.S. officials told CNN.
One of the officials said the strike occurred around 6 a.m. ET Saturday morning in a remote area of the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, southwest of the town of Ahmad Wal.
Mansour was the target of the strike, and a second adult male combatant traveling with him in a vehicle also was likely killed, the official added.

eh, he'll be replaced by someone else. A lot of Taliban didn't really like him as the leader anyway so it's not really a loss for the Taliban even though I give kudos to the CIA for taking him out.
It's like getting rid of a drug kingpin here in the inner city. Another will just takes its place.

The fact that he's dead only means that the CIA was done with him.
You are completely correct with your kingpin analogy. Foot soldier today, terrorist leader tomorrow.

It does send a message that if you're a leader you're the next drone target. That said, what do these poor sand people have to lose? Raise a couple of goats or live the life luxury as a warlord.
