You don't have to be an 'expert' You just need to understand at a very basic level that the base of possibilities for something happening in a particular way is directly influenced by the basic probabilities as they exist in the data set independent of anything else.

Said in a more simple way for your simple mind, if 60% or the cars on the road are white, then there will be, independent of anything else, a roughly 60% probability that at any given time 60% of the cars that pass some point will be white. The only time that there is some aspect of interest in such a pattern is when things deviate from that expected representation. Whites and blacks (at least given the definition used), appear in "mass shooting" stats roughly as one would expect given their numbers in the population. Hispanics are significantly under-represented. Asians are greatly over-represented.

If you don't understand that then you're just too stupid to even continue to argue with. In that case, you also necessarily must believe that because 60% of smart people are white (or whatever other positive aspect you may want to assign), that then means that whites are "5X" smarter than any other minority group and being smart is a "white man's thing."

2) There is no "expected" incidence of mass murder with regard to "relative representations in the population".

When mass shootings occurs in this country, two out of three are committed by white men. That is not because white men make up 2/3 of the population (because they obviously don't), but because more white men choose to commit mass murder.

Ergo, mass shootings is a white man's thing.

Yes, there is.

We know that there will be some number of mass shootings committed by some number of people independent of their race.

Assuming that there is no correlation to race, then those events would be expected to be equally distributed across the population as it exists in roughly equal proportions. Some numbers of those people will be white, black, etc., and the percentage assigned to each group would be expected to follow in those same proportions. Which they do in the case of whites and blacks.

Once again, the numbers only become interesting when they deviate from what would be expected based on the normal distribution. As it does in the case of Hispanics and Asians.

Assuming that such events are equally distributed across races (i.e., no correlation with race), then the percentage of events assigned to each race would be expected to be roughly equal to their representation in the population. That is, one event for every N men regardless of race.

The only reason that the absolute number is greater for whites is because the absolute number of whites in the population is greater (N * 6). If it were a "white man's thing" then the incidence percentage would be expected to be greater than their percentage in the population. It is not.
