All these people are like Fairfax Underground Royalty and truly are the life of the site. Why don't you get up off your fat old ass and get a life instead of insulting the people everyone knows and likes on here.

I'm sort of conflicted. Should I be happy or sad to not be on the list?

But Oaktonmom on a "douchebag" list? That's just ridiculous on it's face, fer cryin out loud.

My list would be MUCH shorter. In fact, it would most likely only have ONE name on it.

Now carry on.

True douchebags drive hummers or own a jet ski, or live in a McMansion that costs 7 times their income.

But to be a douchebag on this site, all you have to do is actually be awake and aware, and piss off the people who wish to live in blind obedience to a two-party system run awry.

Or just know what awry means. or amok.

In other words, you just need to be too intelligent to understand how people can spend an entire saturday watching cars made of tubes and sheet metal do left turns 500 times.

It's a bonus if you've figured out that none of those cars have anything to do with the cars in the showrooms. You lose points if you think you're going to buy one of those cars at the car dealership.

Made up words. WHO MADE THOSE WORDS UP? Liberals? Socialists??

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=mcmansion

McMansion
A large and pretentious house, typically
of shoddy construction, typical of "upscale" suburban developments in the late
20th and early 21st centuries. Such houses
are characterized by steep roofs of complex design, theatrical entrances, lack of stylistic integrity and backsides which are
notably less fussy than their fronts. They are often placed closely together to maximize the developer's profits and appeal to people who value perceived social status over actual, physical, economic or historic value.
Although Nancy is just a school teacher,
she mortgaged herself up to her neck to
buy a new McMansion on Woodbridge Road Court in Clayton Hills Valley Estates at North Pine River Hollow Meadows.

2. McMansion
Those nausiating large suburban homes that are built from cookie-cutters that seem to pop up everywhere like McDonald's restraunts.

3. mcmansion
a big, processed house in a suburb or gated community near you; that has approx 3.7 people living in 12 or more rooms, with 3 car garage attached to it. It's exactly like the house about a piss stream's length away from it, because their usually on placed on smallest space or lot.
it probably took them longer to tow that mcmansion to bashful beaver lane than they took to actually build it.

LMAO @the politicalization of McMansions....that's sorta douchebag-ish on its face!

So "Demon-crats" don't own McMansions? Wrong. You FAIL.

What you don't seem to understand is that "McMansions" are not mansions, they are cheaply constructed, excessively large suburban homes sited on less than 1/3 of an acre, usually.

If your house is very large, but your next door neighbor is a 7-11 and you can smell the gasoline fumes from the gas station across the street (those two ugly arab/indian houses on Old Dominion just past spring hill rd), then you do not live in a mansion, you live in a very large, garishly decorated and cheap pile of junk.

If your house has a four car garage and rooms you can't remember being in in the past year, but you can actually hold a conversation at normal voice levels with your next door neigbor out your windows, you just live in an overly large suburban tract house.

Mansions are usually the houses you can barely see, or cannot see at all, down mile long private roads with dozens and dozens of acres and outbuildings and maybe even a barn and horse stalls. Mansions are the houses you can't see out BEYOND Potomac Md, or deep in the woods off of Walker Rd in Great Falls.

sorry, you're wrong. I see a mansion every day I drive down PA Ave. There is also one visible from the GW Pkwy.

The point is "real" mansions are on a plot of land appropriate to the size of the structure. "McMansions" is the term for structures made to look nice and large but are too big for the land.

When they started popping up you'd know them as the neighborhoods of single-family houses where you could barely fit a lawn mower between them.

A horrible example of these is a development on 29 as you are going into Centreville from the north. Tons of houses packed in as tight as I have ever seen them. From the satellite photos their boundaries are almost indistinguishable.

There are plenty of very large houses I would easily consider "mansions" on Braddock between GMU and 28. Huge houses with circular driveways and the whole bit, on plots of sizes one would expect for houses that large.

We should just agree to not call them mansions anymore since the name is so diluted. I'd say real mansions should be referred to as "estates" but builders have already started to capitalize on the name. Real mansions aren't built on a 1/5 of an acre.

From what I've seen, the last of the real mansions only exist outside of Middleburg and parts of Great Falls.

North Arlington has some genuine mansions, and Fauquier County has gigantic homes.

I think Annandale is the worst for McMansions. I saw one the other day that had a miniature Statue of Liberty in front of it.

You haven't been able to drive down PA avenue in front of the white house since, what, 1998?

McYes, your are McCorrect.

McDonald's represents everything artificial and mass-produced and mass-marketed to the teeming masses of ignorant, lazy and obese consumers.

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=mcmansion

Like a lot of words, it isn't in the dictionary because it's not a proper english word. It is slang. You probably won't find "Crumping" or "Crunked" in the dictionary, either.

But actually, there is a distinction.

"Cookie-cutter houses" are actually called Tract-houses, which every proud middle-class suburbanite aspired to own.

"McMansions" are mass-market oversized homes for oversized people with oversized egos and a fico score too high for their own good.

It actually does tie back in with McDonald's as it is the same marketing trick that David Wallerstein created for McDonald's with the "Super-size it" and "Combo-meal" concepts.
