Good point. I think that is "Stalk Much" and I think he is waiting to strike.

I think that's the person doing the recording.

I am curious....as anyone actually watched the entire video? Because I can only seem to get to about 30 seconds in before I want to put a pistol in my mouth and end it all.

I watched it. It's like watching a train wreck, you can't turn away.

To be fair, Meade is a better singer and instrumentalist than a lot of other people that fancy themselves musicians; I genuinely do wish I could play piano as well as he does (assuming he's actually playing it).

However, I do not like his style, I think his songwriting is trite, and his presentation of the act (i.e. pissing off the internet, one site at a time) is very counter-productive.

+1

I can't play the piano or sing so he's better than me on two counts.

I agree. He has talent, just not my taste. His pissing off the internet isn't necessarily counter-productive though as it keeps his name relevant. Hell, I never would have heard of him if it weren't for the Meade rants. You know what they say, bad publicity is still publicity.

The troll is just being a typical high-schooler.

Insult someone, then run away and giggle.

School is out, you have to get used to lame and frankly uninformed people trying to make jokes and be funny. They have heard those for the first time, so they assume they'll be new to everyone else. The poor things don't know how dumb it makes them look.

No, bad publicity is bad publicity; you might know who he is, but you'll never buy a CD or go to a show unless you're there to laugh at him or be "ironic" as the hipsters say. But then, if you spend $5 to laugh at him, then the jokes really on you, isn't it?

People think that "bad publicity" includes "controversy." Controversy, as in "getting people to talk about you and what you're doing," falls into the "good publicity" category. Meade's approach is getting him "bad publicity," as in "I never want to be in the same room as that guy."

I agree actually. What he needs is a tragedy in his life to bring some edginess to his act.
Maybe we can blow up the Krispy Creme factory.

Meanwhile Pgens has been posting here since 2005. So who is the real loser?

I've sort of caught up with ol' Meade the last few weeks.

I think your take is pretty accurate.

Although I agree his songwriting is trite, he seems to have some kind of melodic gift. Has he taken that as far as it will go, or does he lack the capacity for critical thinking (not quite the right term, but I think you'll gather my point) that might allow him to raise it higher?

It's an improbable thought, but I wonder if a really talented producer, like a Jerry Wexler, could make a man out of Meade Skelton, musically speaking. Make him into, if not a Billy Joel, at least a Christopher Cross. (And I am a fan of neither Joel nor Cross, although the former clearly had above-average songwriting chops in his prime.)

I listen to some of Meade's tunes, and they seem to be pushing up against the edge of being a decent pop song, without every quite crossing that line. (To get beyond trite, he would probably need some help on the lyrics front, too, or the good fortune to stumble on a clever gimmick song where the triteness would be irrelevant, a la Chocolate Rain, as WTL noted elsewhere.)

All I know is I have that fucking "We Talk in Circles" chorus in my head and I want to die.

I think that "Talk in Circles" is the closest thing that Meade has to a good song. I bet some producer could tweak it just a little and get a hit out of it. The sound on this recording is also excellent, in terms of the settings of the mic, etc.

Good: Sound, Basic Tune
Needs little work: Lyrics
Needs lots of work: Lose the "Meade Skelton" sign, lose weight, less perspiration

seriously i didn't realize how greasy he was. you could scrape some oil off his face and replenish the oil wells. or you could bottle it and sell it as a meade skelton lubricant.

Well, I dunno, I've spent $9 to laugh at, oh, say, Eddie Murphy. So I'd say the joke was still on him.

If that's the case, someone needs to teach the asshole how to read a fucking sound meter, because the vocals are an over-modulated piece of shit.

Meade is just using a look popularized by Billy Joel...in the 1970s...
