Is this going to be Ukraine 2004 or Tiananmen Square 1989?

This is exactly what the US wants and you can bet your bottom dollar that the forces that be are working hard to keep the anger stoked and the protests going harder and stronger...to try and gain a critical mass.

It was the very sort of thing 30 years ago that overthrew the Shah, it could happen again except this time in our favour....bears watching.

My gut instinct is that nothing will come from this not to the level we hope for...but one can always be hopeful!

i dont think the protests will keep up much longer nor will there be extreme measures taken.

In case you guys haven't picked up on it yet, this unrest has CIA written all over it. For those who are just learning the way the world works, pay VERY close attention.

It's possible...but we would have to be idiots to once again mess with internal Iranian politics.

Oh really? We would be fools NOT to mess with internal Iranian politics at this point. With two failing wars on both their borders...you do the math. It wouldn't be the first time, and it won't be the last time.

I dont follow your logic. I agree we are in 2 failing wars on the Iranian border. How does that justify us interfering with their elections? If we get caught doing that..the Muslim world will once again beleive we have designs on colonialization of their world. I do not believe Obama's new approach includes stale and old strategies.

I have no doubt the CIA is helping the opposition in Iran. But I think it is mostly communications support, psych ops, that kind of thing. I don't think the CIA is providing weapons, training, etc...yet.

I have no doubt the CIA is doing a lot of shit in a lot of countries, especially this shit in Iran. One would have to think that weapons and training are a later phase type of operation - since it's so much more "traceable". You always want to see if you can just have the natives do it on their own with some real low key background stuff like WTL just mentioned.

One of the ways in which they work is to get the dirty work done with subcontracting and quasi-mercenaries/rabble rousers. That way if they are caught, it isn't traced back to America, it gets the blame on the company or outfit, which isn't "officially" working with Ameriac. Kermit Roosevelt was the last CIA you will ever really see in Iran. Now it's all done through third party shit. That's how we roll. Very sophisticated. We did it in Central America, South America, Iraq, South Africa, etc. You'll never "see" a CIA nametag there. We're not that dumb anymore.

Well I hope they're a little smarter then they were when they helped the Afghans kick out the Russians. We shouldve been helping the Russians in that case....IMHO.
