Derelict Rowan County, KY Clerk Kim Davis released from jail

"U.S. District Judge David Bunning on Tuesday lifted the contempt order against Davis, saying he was satisfied that her deputies are fulfilling their obligation to grant licenses to same-sex couples in her absence. But he warned Davis not to interfere with them, saying, "If Defendant Davis should interfere in any way with their issuance, that will be considered a violation of this Order and appropriate sanctions will be considered."

So she'll be back in jail tomorrow.

Why not fired?

There are plenty of people who refuse to do their jobs (ie 100% of Congress) and they aren't put in jail.

While her actions are outrageous and totally self serving it was a brilliant move on her part. Give her credit. It all but ensures a bright, lucrative career in conservative media circles, a book deal, public speaking events etc. She might make millions.

Ok, so jailed for violating a court order where the court said she has to go back and give gay people marriage licenses? Or jailed because she didn't give licenses to gays after a court (order) said it's legal for them to marry?

She's not an elected official so she can be fired. Congress is elected and maybe we can't fire them, but we sure as hell can put them in jail.
