The only thing that matters now are swing states. Things are roughly equal otherwise. The only reason that Dems are even in the running is because of coastal CA and NYC.

That being the case, if, for example, John Kasich were to win the nomination he would most certainly carry OH. That would very likely win the electoral contest. If Bush or Rubio carry FL, that very likely wins the electoral contest.

Everything else is already basically predetermined to either side.

While we still have a long way to go, and I still do prefer him, Trump lost momentum tonight. I don't think anyone actually outshines him, but I don't think his "sky is falling" (even though it pretty much is) message will resonate with the masses.

Keep in mind that they are "con-tards" for a reason. There's a Whole Bible Belt that votes Contard and they don't like someone like Trump. Jesus is big for them. Family values are big for them. Being an "Everyman" is big for them. Not killing babies (unless they're brown) is big for them. These are all things Trump is not. Trump is an independent trying to get the nomination from one of the two big parties. It's his only shot.

Kasich is a strong candidate if he can get out past the crowd. He's a popular Governor, a relatively moderate guy, strong credentials as far as financial matters, and almost certainly would carry OH for the Republicans. Which counts for a lot. Those electoral votes could easily be the deciding factor in the election.

He couldn't win without one, but with any single one, he would win. He won all three. The GOP needs all three to win. But, you can only pander to TWO with your election picks.
