Yes, there were many "liberal" slave holders, not every slave master was cruel, some tried to understand their slave's point of view and were in fact very kind. it is ironic but sometimes the slaves disliked these "masters" most of all, a master who was still a slave owner no matter how much he pretended to abhorred the practice. They were the most greedy, a strict but fair slave owner was possibly the best a slave could asked for. Even in the South African movie, "Come Back Africa" made in the 1950s, the height of apartheid, the blacks found the "liberals" artificial and phony and disliked them. See the movie.

A small percentage of southerners owned slaves; just the wealthier ones.

GerrTard is not only a liberal goat fucker, but he's also poor. It's like saying today that someone who serves slurpees would have the funds to feed and house a live-in maid. He would not have been able to afford slaves.
