This thread is to encapsulate opinions from people who have already seen the movie but want to comments on details that could be spoilers. If you don't want to read storyline giveaways then don't read this thread yet.

I saw it last night. Storyline, effects 8/10. Last half hour, 9/10. Pretty much all acting and dialog, 4/10.


Negatives first:

All the Anakin-Padame dialogs were stupid... as one reviewer said, there's more passion found on a Hallmark card. They didn't give very believable performances in that area IMHO. Anakin's descent and motivations for it were too quick and not well acted I don't think.

On the whole, as opposed to Phantom Menace, there was only one cheesy part I wish they'd left out and that was the Wookie Tarzan-yell moment.



Positives:

Effects rocked, last half hour was very cool.


What I don't get is the timeline from III to IV though. How old is Luke when EpIV starts? 18? If so, it took 18 years to build the Death Star? Maybe some Star Wars geek can answer that one.

The movie was OK. Not as good as any of the previous ones. I recommend seeing it to anyone who is a fan of the series/genre.

But, why was it on topic in 2005 (and remained so for FOUR years) and off topic in 2009. Seems to be the rules of the game be changin.
