The irony of owning a gun/gun owners
Posted by: Not that guy ()
Date: May 27, 2015 09:35PM

Those who own guns for protection usually never have to use them and end up using them on themselves or others; usually their families.

Those who have them for home invasions are usually the ones who don't have anything worth robbing.

Those who actually need to carry guns don't have them.

What's the matter? You know it's absolutely true!

I am also not anti guns since I'm a gun owner

I've never had to use it though but it has come in handy for road ragers

Just have to be careful of those who call and say you were brandishing though

Just throw it up on the dash and they leave you be

I've never had to use a gun and never hope to. Many gun owners never do when it comes to protecting against someone else but many end up using them for suicide, murder-suicide or just plain murder and never use them for protection.

Oh and don't forget gun accidents and children getting ahold of them..

Just shot an old 38 caliber in my backyard to the woods. Loud as shit. This is an old break top revolver from the 1920's. These remington bullets are probably too strong for it but it still works good enough.

Without doing the research, I think it is safe to conclude the OP's first point in not accurate. With Just shy of a 1:1 ratio of guns to people in the US, the level of suicide and homicide based on the supposition would reduce the US population to a few million.

The other two points are likely off the mark as well, but the amount of data needed to analyze them is beyond me.

As for Wingnut's infantile comment, well...QED.

He said I'm the same anti gun person. I am not that person nor am I anti gun. I think it is you who needs the pills, so does he for thinking I am that guy. Unless you are both of those people then yes, the pills are for you!

I said usually for a reason..

Most suicides are committed by guns. The suicides usually happen by people who have never had to use the gun on someone else.

So that's my point. Are you saying most gun owners by the guns for their future planned self murder and not for protection then?

I doubt you are but that was my point. They usually end up using the guns for reasons other than protection.

Those who usually get home invaded don't have guns to protect themselves but those who don't get home invaded are the ones with guns.

Do you follow now?

Once more, those with guns usually don't need to use them on anyone else. Some end up using them on themselves or others and NOT for protection..

I have and the person called the cops to say I was brandishing a gun..but I don't see how that is so unbelievable. It's not like I said I shot the gun point in his eye socket and drove off and went and robbed a bank and got away with it. You know, something actually "badass" putting a gun on a dashboard is not badass at all.

You on the other hand seem usually angry about something. Please call your pharmacy tomorrow to have your medication refilled and go watch baseball or something, freak! You're too old to be calling names like a teenage girl.

And most gun owners don't commit suicide or shoot anyone intentionally or accidentally.

It's the same dumb false argument.

Most people don't actually use their fire insurance either. They still have it and it's a good thing to have in the rare event that you need it.

I never said it wasn't a good thing to have. I just made the point that those who have them rarely need them or use them for their (hopefully) intended purpose of protecting themselves but those who do need them for protection don't own them. That was the irony there. So why are we debating this at all when it is very true and is proven everyday?

If only the family in DC owned a gun, they probably would have been able to protect themselves from being slaughtered and burned to death.

Nope, you you said:

Quote

Those who own guns for protection usually never have to use them and end up using them on themselves or others; usually their families.

Those who have them for home invasions are usually the ones who don't have anything worth robbing.

Those who actually need to carry guns don't have them.

The first part isn't at all true in the way that you framed it.

The second implies that anyone who has a gun for home security usually doesn't have anything thing worth stealing, which is just stupid.

Then you went off on some other dumb tangent about carrying guns.

It was the same stupid troll attempt. Embrace your stupidity.

How is it not true? I never said "all gun owners never use their guns and end up using them on themselves"

What I said is in fact very true since those who have killed themselves or their families or just others never had never used the gun until that moment.

I also never once implied that "anyone who has a gun for home security doesn't have anything worth stealing". I made the point that the ones who have guns for home security usually don't get robbed and it's obviously because no home invader thought they had anything of value.

I also didn't say anything about gun carry. I made the very clear point that there have been about a million cases where if someone had a gun for the reason that they needed it, they probably wouldn't have been victimized and gave a perfect example of something that happened recently.

Again, what are we debating? I am stating my opinion, not facts. You can't debate opinions, although everything I said is backed up by facts and I don't need to research this as it is common knowledge.

It's not true because "Those who have guns for protection" usually DON'T end up doing either and DON'T "end up using them on themselves or others."

It is in fact true because that's what the majority of guns are used for or they aren't used at all which proves my second point true.

That those who have guns for home invasions usually don't end up having to use them. Which makes my third point true; those who do need them don't have them.

Going back and forth on an issue is debating. Nothing I posted was stupid or not factual.

People who have guns usually don't ever need to use them.

People that usually need them don't have them.

The ones who have them turn them on themselves and others in a murder suicide and not towards anyone they were protecting themselves from.

I never said "all" ever so that's why you are the dumbass posting stupid shit. You quoted my quote and still requoted it in your own words which wasn't what I said at all.

I never said "all gun owners____"

Do you have smoke detectors in your home?
How about a fire extinguisher?
Most gun owners do use their guns at the range and keep one to defend themselves should the unforseeable occur.

Most gun owners are probably more concerned for their safety than they are their possessions.

"Need"? It's a personal choice ... the need only arises when the unforseeable happens, and when you're without in a life and death situation, then your odds of losing your life are high.
