I find it very odd that ISIS would take responsibility for such a FAILED and unorganized and unprepared attack...

Just like the Boston Bombers weren't actually apart of a terrorist group - just two radicals. ISIS had nothing to do with this shit!

It looks like the FBI couldn't set him up in a sting back in 2006 and went to trial with mainly verbal statements as evidence he was going abroad to wage jihad. Normally, someone has to communicate with an undercover agent representing the foreign group, buy plane tickets, and pursue weapons training to get charged. They approached him with an informant pretending to be a jihadist. No real information from the FBI what type of contact they've had in the nearly 10 yearssince the court case.
