Kruschev...despite his demonstrative behavior at the UN was more moderate on most issues of the day then he is given credit for. He understood that the communist/capitalist competition was not so much military based as it was in meeting people's basic needs. He was in actuality a very moderate communist who we probably could have negotiated with much better then we did with his successors.
