Upgraded and picked me up a 2.0 K560 Brewer with Keurig Carafe, 48 K-Cup Packs and 4 K-Carafe Packs at Costco for $149.00, the K550 elsewhere is $197.00 and no sample coffee packs ands filter.

I'm having me a Donut Shop regular right now, very good.

My son bought an expensive Keurig as a "family gift" for Christmas. He's the only one who uses it. I think it's wasteful. Personally, I went through a series of fairly expensive coffee makers - all of which had significant problems. I finally bought a simple Mr. Coffee and it's perfect! Still going strong after several years.

Not surprised that "Gunlover" has just figured out Keurig coffee makers.

Next on the list is to get Gunlovers cellphone updated.

And no texting either... right?

That's about what we expected. Because who needs apps, the internet or texting on a cellphone. As long as it makes calls that's all a conservative need. Nice touch the pay as you go option.

Well, nobody doesn't like Sara Lee, I guess. But do they ever tell you what coffees they've acquired to roast and blend? Claiming that it's 100% high-quality Arabica beans doesn't tell you much. Almost any coffee could make that claim. They also claim to be the world's third-largest coffee roaster. And Budweiser is the world's largest beer maker. Big isn't necessarily good.

Throw some ground coffee into really hot water for a few minutes and strain it. You don't need machinery like this crap unless you're making hundreds of cups a day.

None of the troglodytes here drink espresso; most don't even know what that is. But good God - $700 for a coffee maker? It's nice to know how the other half lives...but count me out.

Well, for what it's worth, I bought mine with ill-gotten gains - took a few grand out the a couple of casinos, luckily had to fly home before I managed to give it all back. Bought a coffee machine which'll likely last the rest of my life, and which I use pretty much every day. Beats going to Starbucks.

Me, Danny, Rusty, that guy with the bad cockney accent - yeah, it wasn't as profitable as you'd think. But I did get a coffee maker out of it.

Like all real men, I started with the 'Knuckle Sandwich' method - put a bunch of beans in your mouth, have somebody punch you in the face repeatedly until you have a mouthful of grounds, then pour in boiling water. The Silivia is a big improvement on this, let me tell you, if only in terms of dental bills.

AeroPress here.

We've had a Keurig in the house for years now. I'll use it for coffee on occasion, when I really want a cup of coffee and I'm out of beans or filters. My wife uses it more regularly for coffee. Between tea and the AeroPress, most of the time it's used for hot water at this point.

I have the Silvia too, but got mine back when they were still a little under $500. You have to figure in the price of a burr grinder too, since the Silvia won't make decent espresso with pre-ground beans, so add at least another $300. However, I've been using mine for around 10 years now and expect it to go at least another 10.

Different model, but point taken - fire hazard. Along the same lines, I spent a ridiculous amount of time researching toaster ovens that wouldn't burn the house down. Unbelievable how common this problem is with these units. Finally bought an expensive Breville, since it had the fewest reports of electrical issues. I miss the good old days.

Mr. Coffee drip coffee pot. $20. Costco coffee. ( Kirkland ) Yes, pre-ground. It is just fine.
K cups are ridiculous. Why pay 50 cents for a cup of mediocre coffee when you can make a whole delicious pot for less than that. Same with hot tea. Bags are no more than 5-10 cents. They are just fine.
And anybody who pays $2-4+ a cup for coffee or tea is an idiot. I love to listen to these types talk about how they don't have enough money to put into savings, while they are sipping a $5 cup of coffee.

Fools.

I'm not hugely impressed with the taste, plus I'm pretty sure the one's I've tried were arabica beans spiked with robusta beans to up the caffeine content. Not the worst I've had but not comparable to the espresso machines it's meant to mimic.

I couldn't care less about these things. I just go by the taste and aroma. If I like it compared to all others, that's good enough for me.

Meh. Try the Tully's. Or Pete's. Most of theirs are pretty good across the board for whatever they are.

You can get a good cup out of the Keurigs if you do it right. Pretty much needs to be extra bold and on the smallest size setting to keep it strong enough.

Light roasts have the highest caffeine loads. Dark roast is just burned shit and burned off caffeine.

Aeropress is an overly complicated hack of the French Press. The French press (invented by an Italian) makes the best coffee, no matter what the coffee. If you like coffee and haven't tried it, you really are missing out.

BTW, you can go to Starbucks and get them to make you a pot of fresh ground, French press coffee. It's about $4.00 and is better than any other coffee they sell. It will take 10-15 mins for you to get it though.

Gee, thanks for the news flash.

Caffeine isn't nearly all that there is to a good cup of coffee. If that's all you want then just pop a couple of NoDoz® and you're done.

Because there are poor dark roasts doesn't mean that there aren't good dark and medium roasts. Some of the best coffees are. Likewise, because a coffee is light roasted doesn't mean that it's necessarily better. That's especially true when it comes to the Keurigs where you don't really have the residence time to extract a good full flavored light roast like you do with a press.
