Question About Van Halen (David Lee Roth era)
Posted by: Col.WalterE.Kurtz ()
Date: December 21, 2014 03:21AM

From 1978 - 1986, Van Halen's concerts were a squadron of B-52's raining down rock from on high all over the major concert venues of the United States.

Why then has the band only released ONE live album? And why was it from the Sammy Hagar era? Why has there not been a live album released from the David Lee Roth era? Does anybody know if they have tapes in the vault from this period to be eventually released? Is there yet another internal feud between Roth and the Van Halen brothers preventing its release?

This makes no sense to me...

Van Halen ...

Well the first thing you have to realize is that Van Halen did a lot of covers. They did an awesome job at it, but they are not original works.

Also, cancer is a bitch. I believe that Eddie has had his cancer return twice recently.

If you ask Valerie Bertinelli I would have to believe that she would confirm the party style and loose women of the Van Halen experience. I would guess that kind of lost it luster when your son Wolfie manages the band?

The subject nature of the bands songs would indicate the change in attitude and style over the years as well. Started with "Running with the Devil" to "Hot for Teacher" to "Mom Cats with that new Tattoo"....

Mostly when your 60 years old and have more money then you care ticket sales are not that great when you care more about ending the show in a timely fasion to catch the early bird special at the buffet, rather then "Dancing the Night Away".

Valerie Bertinelli fucked it all up when she
cut Eddie's penis off and fired David Lee Roth from the band and then hired that Samuel Haggard guy.

^ +1 - Brilliant!

I didn't know Country Western star Merle Haggard had a son let alone that he was the baby daddy of Sammy Haggard the singer for Van Halen.

Guess that explains a lot - like they must have collaborated together on "Just a Gigalo" and "California Girls"

That's why I love FFXU so much. I learn important facts every time I visit.

Why - I learned from WingNut just the other day that President Obama was a Communist, a Muslim, a Terrorist, and wasn't even born in the United States - that right there even on his fake birth certificate it says he was born in the city of Kenya - which is in the country of Hawaii over there in the Asian Ocean.

And did you know that cutting taxes actually decreases the deficit and cuts the debt, creating jobs and stimulating the economy by trickling up to us tax payers?

Most rock bands mellow out after 10 years. They get into their mid 30's with wives and kids. They move away from party songs to songs with a political or introspective message like "Right Now" or "Love Comes Walking In".

Still waiting for the CD "The Best of Van Halen, The Gary Cherone years".

The reason only one live album was ever put out (I am am surprised one was put out at all), is VH generally sounded like a non stop garbage disposal live. The sound was always the worst in the industry.

They were paid over a million dollars for this miserable performance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=frwlZswvS5I

If you go to Youtube, you can find the Live at Largo concert from 81. Not sure why it was never released.

I don't get what the big deal is about Van Halen. So over rated. There were many better bands out during that era.

Huey Lewis and the News was easily the best band back then, way ahead of their time.

There are several shows on YouTube from the Cap Centre archives. I would love to see the whole series released. I believe the Cap Centre was one of the first arenas to broadcast the state footage on the big screen.

Fags and liberals, although that is redundant.

Van Halen was a good band to SEE live, not so good to HEAR live. I've heard some recordings that sound like butt.

DLR annoyed the fuck out of me when I was younger with all of his faggy stage wear and his big mouth, but after seeing Hagar, I think DLR was the right fit.

Never liked the sound of Alex's drumming, his ride cymbal bugs me sometimes.

VH1 was a great album and they went downhill. Even before I left JR HS and "Dance the Night Away" came out, many thought they'd sold out and gone disco..

A few bright spots later, "Unchained", 1984, Fair Warning, OK in small doses. As much as I dislike about VH they do belong in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

David Lee Roth's solo stuff is way better than VH.
