The first MLB game I saw was the old Senators at RFK during their last season, a few years later I was up at the old Memorial Stadium a few times a year to see the O's, saw a couple of games in the 79 penant race.
I still have a soft spot for the O's and the city, but I've grown to despise the ownership. The O's haven't played competetive baseball in about 10 years and they started to sour me on the game completely.
I've been to about 20 Nat's games. The ballpark is ok but they need a lot more talent to get me excited about them or baseball again. Haven't been to an O's/Nat's game yet, but I'll be pretty conflicted, because I am trying hard to let the Nat's grow to be my team.

o's for 15 years nats for 2+.... Cal Ripkin will always have a place in my baseball heart
now if they all could be competitive i would follow baseball much more

The nice thing about baseball is you can get in to see a game for $10 a seat. I don't mind taking the kids, even though I know they won't sit through a whole game, because it is so cheap. Also, unlike football and hockey, the fans don't become drunken, screaming assholes (for the most part), so I don't have to worry about some jack-ass traumatizing my kid. On the flip side, no way I would pay Danny Boy $100 a seat or more to sit in his "partially obstructed view" seating at FedEx.

Also, unlike football and hockey, the fans don't become drunken, screaming assholes (for the most part), so I don't have to worry about some jack-ass traumatizing my kid. Go Os. anyone who roots for the nats is not a real baseball fan or does not particularly like baseball and just root for a team because they are close. Nats fans are not exactly people either. Nothing however compares to the ineptitude of Yankee or Red Sox fans. what a bunch of FAGS. you people are the ABSOLUTE worst. go home.

Maybe if the Os didn't suck ass, I would drive to Baltimore to see them. But since both the Os and Nats suck, I will go to the closer stadium.

I've always been a Yankees fan. I will be there for opening day in Baltimore aswell.
I still support the Nationals though, got a 20 game plan for just 200 dollars the last two years; you can't go to two Yankees games for that price. I always just try to go to all the games when they're playing in Baltimore 9-10 times a year. Unfortunatelly I only got tickets to opening day this year for the first series.

The Expos (Gnats) will never be able to draw many true fans just due to the transient nature of many in this area. So many people work for the government and are only here for a few years and then move on, so it's hard to develop a true fan following. Washington fans are largely bandwagoners, so if a Washington team, any Washington team, is winning they will go to the games (see Caps). Not usually true with Redskin fans, but very true with any other sport in the area.
I'm an Orioles fan and actually have season tickets. It made me sick when the Expos moved to Washington and people who followed the Orioles for years up and abandoned the team for the Expos. The Washington Post doesn't even offer any Orioles coverage any longer that I can tell. I did have to laugh last season when the Expos opened a BRAND NEW stadium and only had like one sell out. That is disgraceful, but it's a testament to the nature of Washington area fans. When Camden Yards opened, the place was sold out every night for years. Then Angeloser bought the team and it was all downhill from there, but that's another story.
On the subject of Yankees and Red Sox fans...many of those goofs have never even been to New York or Boston. They are as fair weather as they come. I still remember a couple goofy Red Sox "fans" at Camden Yards last year when the team was in town. This was after Manny Ramirez was traded to the Dodgers. These two "fans" were wondering why Manny wasn't playing in that game and speculated that he may be hurt! True baseball fans they must have been to miss that one!

Baseball is the biggest bargain in professional sports. Just make sure you eat and get nice and loaded before coming into the stadium ($8 beers, $7 hot dogs). Last time I went, I parked in one of the VIP decks. Saw people tailgating in there. Kind of retarded, but still cheaper than paying vendor prices.

Yes, but then there are the other teams the Nats play. I went to see them play the Mariners at RFK. You would have thought we were in Seattle. I never realized that that many people from the Pacific Northwest are in the DC-area...much less Mariner fans.

Yes, but then there are the other teams the Nats play. I went to see them play the Mariners at RFK. You would have thought we were in Seattle. I never realized that that many people from the Pacific Northwest are in the DC-area...much less Mariner fans.

OMG...I'd go to a hockey game any day of the year ove a baseball game. It is a test of sanity to watch baseball (even more so on TV). Stand on the mound, scratch your crotch, spit, look at first base, spit, step off the rubber, spit, step back on the rubber, spit, scratch your ass crack, spit, discretely smell your finger after having scracthed your ass crack, look at the catcher, spit, take another sniff at your finger, spit, then deliver the pitch.
Takes fucking for ever. No wonder the kids want to leave after inning 4.
