Why do liberals on CNN keep suggesting it was wrong for Officer Wilson to pursue Michael Brown?

The physical evidence shows that Michael Brown's blood was in the police car. The officer had injuries to his face.
Over and over, network hosts, like Carol Costello, and guests suggest that the officer should have let Michael Brown walk away. I'm not sure how much police training Costello has had, or the other, but it seems to me that police probably don't want to stop individuals, have that individual reach in their squad car and punch them several times, and then let them walk away and hope that backup arrives before they go into the neighboring apartment complex and disappear. How well would that work for the police?
Would Costello ever question so hard anyone supporting Brown on why he didn't cooperate with the police officer?
CNN is very damning of the police. I wasn't there; I don't know what happened. I've tried to listen to both sides. CNN has not. As a "journalistic" enterprise, it seems like it should.
