Camping and hunting megastore chain Cabela's Inc. will open a location in Gainesville, its third new store announced for Virginia.

The 79,000-square-foot store will be at the intersection of Linton-Hall Road and Lee Highway, adjacent to the Virginia Gateway Center, and is expected to open in the spring of 2017. It will employ 190 full-time and part-time workers.

"The fact that Cabela's is bringing three new stores to Virginia speaks volumes to the outdoor opportunities and lifestyle in the state, as well as Virginians' passion for the Cabela's brand," said Cabela's CEO Tommy Millner.

Sidney, Nebraska-based Cabela's is also planning new stores in Bristol in the fall of 2016 and in Short Pump in spring of 2016.

The Cabela's stores will include trademark features like a large mountain replica, museum-quality wildlife displays and an aquarium. It will also include an indoor archery range, a deli and a fudge shop.

Cabela's also includes boat and tractor sales.

It's just like Bass Pro and Gander Mountain. Huge selection of Mossy Oak themed clothing, firearms that sell $100-$300 more expensive than small gun stores.

Occasionally these huge stores have nice sales on ammunition, but that's it.

Blessed are the murderous.

They do have decent sales on guns and other stuff at times.

Never ever even think of selling/trading things in with them though. Absolute rip-off pricing in that case. They'll try to give you $200 for a gun that you could easily get $500 for otherwise.

That 29 Linton hall intersection is a total clusterfuck. Way to make it worse.

For the general public who dabble in the outdoors Cabela's is great. Prices are fair but the stores are great entertainment for viewing wildlife(real and stuffed). Been to stores in MI,NE,Montana and a few in Canada. Always good for tackle in the region and forgotten/lost gear. Even used them as rendezvous points when fishing up north. Most would allow long term parking. Most Cabela's are located in regions where hunters/fishermen travel or traveling to.

A Gander Mountain superstore opened yesterday at Potomac Mills in Woodbridge.
