I am absolutely 100% with Wingnut on this. It's clear now after many decades that the NFL simply doesn't give a shit what its players do off the field. And you know why they don't give shit? Because football FANS don't give a shit. And football fans don't give a shit because they keep right on watching, keep right on buying tickets, parking, food, beverage, souvenirs and DirectTV packages no matter who is on the field. No matter what guys do...the NFL's customers keep buying their product. These notions of "well, I'm not watching if there's just thug niggers on the field..." are just that. Notions. The NFL is a bulletproof business. People love the NFL and their games are amongst the highest rated hours of television and it's not even close.
WingNut said it best, if you can tackle consistently or score consistently...we don't give a fuck what you do the rest of the time. Just be on time for games, destroy the opposition and win the SuperBowl.

I would have to disagree. I think it depends on the age group of the fans. The younger guy dont give a shit. But I personally know many people in their 30's and 40's that are fed up with the NFL for several reasons and have stopped attending or even watching games.
The reasons? The showboating- the thugs- the off field crime sprees- the general lack of respect players have for the game and each other now and this extends to the fans in the stands as well. I used to go to games with my dad back in the 70's and 80's when I was a kid. I wouldnt take my 2 sons to a game now if they begged me. Nothing but drunken rowdy cursing assholes wanting to fight. And good luck going to a game with your wife and 2 kids for under $500.
